Arsenal’s January transfer window business is not yet done, with reports suggesting they will aim to trigger Jose Luis Gaya’s £13.5m release clause.
The 19-year-old Spanish left-back plies his trade for Valencia in a La Liga and is thought to have attracted interest from Real Madrid among others.
Valencia has been nothing short of a production line for Champions League-class left-backs in recent years, with Gaya following Barcelona’s Jordi Alba and Juan Bernat, now of FC Bayern Munchen into the first team at the Mestalla.
Linked with the Gunners earlier during the January window, the Daily Star understands from reports on the continent that the north London club plan to activate the Spaniard’s release clause by the end of the day.
The reigning La Liga and European champions are also understood to be keen but the Star believes Arsene Wenger to be confident of landing his man.
Arsenal are 4/1 to land the 19-year-old before the February 3 comes to bring the winter free for all to an end.
Gaya is a pacey and attack minded full-back for Los Che, where he is afforded licence to roam on the left flank thanks to the discipline of holding midfielder Javi Fuego.
