There’s a particularly eye-catching wager that stands out ahead of the latest round of Premier League action, with bwin.com offering odds about which game will be last up on midweek Match of the Day.
Crystal Palace are deserved 11/10 favourites to beat Aston Villa at Selhurst Park, but the 7/2 on offer from the boys in black and gold on this fixture finishing off the BBC’s flagship football show is the bet that can’t be missed.
The stark numbers in the featured image don’t even take the visitors’ dreadful goalscoring form this season into account; Villa have failed to find the net in eight of their 14 fixtures this season all told, registering a Premier League low of seven strikes in total so far.
Palace have been a bit better and each of their past three home games have seen over 2.5 produced, but they’ve only scored two or more twice all term on their own patch, with those relative goal-rushes coming against hapless duo Leicester and Liverpool.
Swansea v QPR is bwin’s favourite at 3/1 to be the last featured on Match of the Day, despite three of Harry Redknapp’s side’s past four games breaching the three-plus goals barrier and two of those matches seeing four or more strikes.
West Brom v West Ham is also available at 7/2 in this market, but if last season’s 3-3 draw at the Boleyn Ground is anything to go by, this fixture could bump Chelsea v Spurs off the top of the running order (incidentally, that Stamford Bridge clash can be backed at 100/1 to be up last).
Palace v Villa 2013/14 gives a useful hint as to the correct score here, with the away side struggling so badly for goals and the hosts hardly setting the heather alight.
Neil Warnock’s men to win 1-0 is available at 11/2.
