Two of the transfer window’s most active sides, Stoke and Liverpool, meet this weekend in a game that offers many intriguing goalscorer betting opportunities.
Both added new strikers on deadline day, with Stoke signing Peter Crouch and Cameron Jerome and Liverpool adding Craig Bellamy to their already strong attacking options.
Of those, Crouch looks the best option, having notched home debut goals for four of his previous clubs and scored eight times against his former teams throughout his career.
He is 2/1 in bwin’s anytime scorer market but having opened the scoring with eight of his last ten Premier League goals, odds of 7/1 for Crouch to be first scorer look the way to go.
If Crouch does score first, punters backing him would win £200 if they used the £25 free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
On the other hand, Stoke have failed to score before the 89th minute so far this season, while Liverpool have twice conceded the last goal.
Crouch is 7/1 to score the game’s final goal but a better option may be his fellow deadline-day signing, Jerome, who will likely have to make his impact from the bench and is 9/1.
Liverpool’s own deadline-day acquisition is also likely to have to settle for a substitute’s role given the form of the Reds’ current strikers this season.
Bellamy is 21/10 to score on his Liverpool ‘re-debut’ but it is hard to look past in-form Luis Suarez, who has three goals in four games so far this season.
The Uruguayan is 13/10 to score at anyt ime and 9/2 to get the first goal, as he did against Sunderland, Arsenal and Exeter.
With both squads full of attacking talent this game could be a high-scoring affair, so it may be worth backing more than one player in the anytime scorer market.
Charlie Adam is 23/10 to add to his first Liverpool goal from last weekend, while Kenwyne Jones is 19/10 to repeat his goalscoring performance from this fixture last season.
