Manchester City players are taking no prisoners as they step up their preparations for an assault on the Premier League title.
The Citizens, who won the FA Cup and qualified for the Champions League last season, are 7/2 third-favourites to win the league in bwin’s football betting market.
This means that a successful £25 free bet on Man City to finish first, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £112.50.
In an interview with the Sun, City midfielder James Milner said preparations for the new season were going well on the club’s pre-season tour of the US.
Indeed, he said the vigour with which the City players were getting ready for their first competitive match against Swansea on 13th August has surprised Gael Clichy, one of the club’s newest recruits.
“Gael hasn’t been here too long but he’s seen a few tackles fly in,” Milner told the news provider.
“He’s surprised at that because at Arsenal they don’t tackle too much in training. We train as we play but as soon as we come off the field everyone is together.
“It’s good to go on tour for the fitness but with the new boys it’s good to spend time with them. They’ll get to know us a lot quicker spending two-and-a-half weeks on the road rather than a few hours in training.”
The Citizens are playing three times in the US as part of the Herbalife World Football Challenge.
Club America are first up on 16th July, with matches against Vancouver Whitecaps and LA Galaxy following on the 18th and 24th.
Roberto Mancini’s men are favourites for all three matches, as they are in bwin’s Man City v Swansea betting market for the first game of the season.
