This has been an important week in the career of Jack Rodwell after making his senior England debut in the victory over Spain and then impressing from the start against Sweden in mid-week.
After his energetic surges forward from midfield in an England shirt, the 20-year-old Everton midfielder has shown glimpses of the attacking threat that he is capable of offering to club and country.
So far in his young career Rodwell hasn’t been a prolific scorer; in fact he has found the back of the net just eight times for the Toffees in over 100 appearances.
However, after suffering an injury ravaged campaign last season, the youngster has been a regular in David Moyes’ side this year and has made more of an impact in front of goal as a result.
He claimed his first goal of the season in the late victory over Fulham in October and struck again in his team’s defeat to Newcastle just before the international break.
Off the back of those recent goals and the subsequent confidence that playing for England must have given him, Rodwell is definitely worth a bet at 17/4 to score at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
Elsewhere in the Everton team it is hard to see who is likely to supply the finishing touch to any attacking moves, with Royston Drenthe and Apostolos Vellios being the only other players in blue to have scored more than once in the Premier League thus far.
Drenthe, the on-loan Real Madrid winger, is priced at 2/1 to score at any time over the ninety minutes; more generous odds however can be found on Vellios scoring the final goal of the game.
Both of the young Greek’s goals have come as a substitute and bwin has him at 13/2 to score last against Wolves.
Wanderers come into the fixture at Goodison Park off the back of a much needed 3-1 success over fellow strugglers Wigan.
That win included a goal from left-back Stephen Ward, his second of the season, and he added to his impressive tally in the Republic of Ireland’s 1-1 draw with Estonia at the Aviva Stadium.
With top scorer Steven Fletcher injured, Ward looks as good a bet as any to grab a goal for Wolves and at 9/2 he is reasonably priced too.
