Tottenham Hotspur will no doubt still be buzzing from last night’s six goal, end-to-end thriller against Arsenal, but they need to avoid a costly slip up against West Bromwich Albion to keep a fourth place finish in sight.
With Spurs just two points behind Manchester City in the league, Harry Redknapp’s team will be set on securing a place in next year’s Champion’s League and a win at West Brom would certainly keep them in the running.
Priced at ½ to come out on top at White Hart Lane, Tottenham are clear favourites for Saturday’s fixture and a fairly consistent home record would suggest this is a pretty safe bet.
However, the last time these two met back in September it finished one a piece and the Baggies will no doubt be keen to hold on to that mid-table spot, so those fancying longer odds might favour the draw priced at 29/10.
Although priced at 21/4 to win, West Brom’s season shows that they are more than capable of defeating teams that, on paper, look certain to wipe the floor with them.
A defeat to Chelsea last weekend may have knocked the confidence that back-to-back away wins at Sunderland and Liverpool will have no doubt boosted, but breaking into the top ten could prove to be drive enough for Roy Hodgson’s team to really challenge Tottenham.
Looking at goal scorers, after netting two already this week Rafael van der Vaart is the obvious favourite to score at any time priced at 1/1, but a more enticing bet might Tom Huddlestone at 9/2 who thundered home a long range effort against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Tottenham’s defence has looked less than watertight of late and a £10 stake on West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie to score at any time at 21/10 would see a return of £31.
