Newcastle United will take to the field on Saturday (April 2nd) in desperate need of a win to inject new life into their campaign for survival.
The Magpies have won just one of their last nine matches – a 2-0 away win at Birmingham City – and have lost their two most recent games, against Everton and Stoke.
Alan Pardew’s men will therefore be looking to avoid slipping to three defeats in a row when they entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers at St James’ Park.
By way of contrast, their opponents arrive on the back of two wins in an unbeaten run of four games.
They may be below Newcastle in the Premier League table, but recent form suggests the Old Gold are better equipped to escape from the clutches of relegation.
Indeed, a win at St James’ – priced at 3/1 – would move third-bottom Wolves to within a point of Newcastle, who are seven places above them in the league.
However, past history suggests the smart money could be on a 1-1 draw.
The last three Premier League meetings between these two sides have ended one apiece, and the same scoreline is available at 6/1.
A successful £10 bet on Newcastle to draw with Wolves 1-1 at bwin would return £70.
This theory is further supported by the fact that Newcastle have failed to score more than once in four of their last six home matches, with the only exceptions being a 5-0 win over West Ham on January 5th and a 4-4 draw with Arsenal on February 5th.
Much of this can be attributed to the loss of Andy Carroll to Liverpool as he remains the club’s joint-top scorer with 11 despite not playing for the Magpies since December 28th.
As such, much of the onus will be on club captain Kevin Nolan to fire his side to victory and lead Newcastle away from the relegation dogfight.
A £10 stake on Kevin Nolan to score for Newcastle against Wolves would return £80. New customers can register here to receive a £25 free bet.
