Premier League side Bolton go into their latest friendly match as 11/20 favourites to make it four wins out of five in their pre-season campaign.
League One outfit Bury, who host the Trotters at Gigg Lane this evening, are 73/20 shots to win the match in bwin’s football betting market, with a draw priced at 3/1.
Owen Coyle’s team have already played four friendly matches this summer, starting with a 1-0 loss to Tampa Bay on 14th July.
However, things have improved since then, with subsequent wins recorded over Orlando and Houston Dynamo.
But perhaps the best barometer for Bolton’s fixture against Bury is the Trotters’ 4-1 win over Bradford on 24th July.
Both the Bantams and the Shakers played in League Two last season, admittedly with contrasting fortunes.
While Bury secured promotion to League One, Bradford toiled near the foot of the table before finishing in 18th.
Nevertheless, the fact that Bolton were able to brush Bradford’s challenge aside with something to spare on Sunday suggests they will be able to ease past Bury in a similar fashion this evening.
With this in mind, the best bet could be on Bolton to score more than 3.5 goals in the match at odds of 33/20.
A successful £25 free bet on this scoreline, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £66.25.
Further weight to this theory is provided by Bury’s most recent result against Premier League opposition.
The Shakers played Everton on 16th July and went down 4-1, with two goals from Magaye Gueye and further strikes from Yakubu and Leon Osman enough for the Toffees to claim victory.
However, the fact that Bury managed to score against Everton – and that Bolton conceded against Bradford – raises hopes that Richie Barker’s men will be able to hit the back of the net against the Trotters.
Odds of 18/25 are available on both Bury and Bolton to score in the match, meaning a successful £25 stake would return £43.
