Arsenal travel to Ewood Park knowing their fans expect an improvement in recent performances and Arsene Wenger will send his players out raring to go from the off.
As such, Arsenal’s joint top scorers Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott – who are 7/2 and 15/2 to open the scoring respectively- are good value to continue in goal-scoring form and grab the first strike this weekend.
Blackburn haven’t scored first in any league match against Arsenal since 2009, and may not want to repeat it on Saturday knowing that the last time they scored first against the Gunners they lost 6-2.
Arsene Wenger finally bowed to fan pressure this summer, making some big name signings on the last day of the transfer window. Players signed with big reputations will be expected to come in and perform straight away, especially attack minded midfielders Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun.
Arteta will look to prove that he can cut it at a top club after spending six years in a pivotal role for Everton.
However, the former Toffees man does not have a prolific goal scoring record, averaging a goal every six games in his time at Goodison Park.
Perhaps a better bet would be on Benayoun.
The Israel international is a player with an eye for goal and will certainly be looking to impress at his new club.
Despite a tough time at Chelsea – where he only scored once in eight appearances – the former Liverpool player had a good record before his move to Stamford Bridge and has racked up over 100 career goals to date.
As such, a bet on him to open his Arsenal account against Blackburn looks good value at 3/2.
No Blackburn player has scored more than one goal in the league this season, but if there is any player who can change that it is former Barcelona trainee Ruben Rochina.
The young Spaniard is in good form, grabbing a brace in the Carling Cup last month to add to his solitary league goal.
At odds of 11/4 a free £25 bet for new punters on a Rochina goal at any point during the match would give a return of £93.75
