With everything still to play for at the top and the bottom of the Premier League, the clash between Aston Villa and Chelsea on Saturday has all the makings of a classic.
Both are on good runs and need a win, so there might appear to be little to choose between the sides at Villa Park.
To help you separate them, we’ve picked out five intriguing angles that could help you decide what you want to punt on.
1. Goals, goals, goals…
On December 23rd, Chelsea inflicted Aston Villa’s heaviest ever Premier League defeat with a crushing 8-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
The last time they met at Villa Park, on March 31st, 2012, the Blues were rampant in a 4-2 victory, meaning that they have averaged six goals per game against Villa in their last two matches.
Lambert’s side, on the other hand, hit Sunderland for six two weeks ago and then knocked in another two at Norwich last Saturday, so expect goals galore in this one.
More than 3.5 goals is on offer at a tempting 8/5.
2. And more goals…?
On the subject of goals, Chelsea have only failed to score against Aston Villa once in their last 11 meetings, while Villa have fired a blank on five occasions during the same run.
This explains odds of 1/10 on Chelsea to score in the game compared to 9/25 on Villa, while both teams to score is available at 11/20.
3. Winning runs
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last seven matches, winning five of them, and haven’t lost on the road in the Premier League since Southampton beat them on March 30th.
Villa, on the other hand, have won five of their last eight, including their last two, and are on their best run of form all season.
Chelsea are 39/50 to pick up all three points, compared to 7/2 on a Villa win.
4. Agbonlahor scores, Villa win
Paul Lambert’s side have won the last five matches that Gabriel Agbonlahor has scored in, so if the red-hot hitman finds the net again in this one the hosts will be hoping to go on and take all three points.
Agbonlahor is priced at 9/4 to score at any time on Saturday, and new customers to bwin who use their free £20 bet for registering to back him will win £45 if successful.
5. Lampard scores, Chelsea win
Likewise, in the last three matches that Frank Lampard has scored for Chelsea, they have won on each occasion.
The England midfielder sat out the draw against Tottenham on Wednesday but boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed that he will feature in this one and he is also 9/4 with bwin to score at any time.
