Chelsea’s defence has accounted for eight goals in the Premier League leaders’ last 13 all-competition matches, meaning there’s clear value to be had when Jose Mourinho’s side host an Everton outfit guilty of leaking ten strikes in their past five away fixtures.
All six regular members of Jose Mourinho’s backline are priced up at more than 6/1 to grab a goal at Stamford Bridge, but which one is likely to get your money working? Read on for the reveal…
John Terry to score at any time @ 13/2
The former England skipper’s price looks particularly chunky after he bagged three Premier League goals in a four-match period between mid-December and New Year’s Day.
That being said, only one of those efforts came at Stamford Bridge, and Terry last notched at home prior to those strikes against Maribor in the Champions League back in late October.
He hasn’t got on the scoresheet in the last six matches either, so Terry’s relatively short price should be swerved.
Branislav Ivanovic @ 13/2
He’s officially Chelsea’s in-form defender, with two in his last three appearances, but the spread of Ivanovic’s goalscoring suggests caution should be exercised before getting involved.
On three occasions over the past 12 months the right-back has bagged braces over three-game periods, but his two previous doubles were followed by 18 and 26-match goalless runs.
Kurt Zouma @ 17/2
With two goals in just 11 Chelsea starts so far, the French youngster can’t be ignored in the market, although Zouma has yet to find the net in five Premier League tries.
However, he has been in from the off in three of his side’s past four Stamford Bridge fixtures at Gary Cahill’s expense.
On balance, there’s more good than bad about Zouma’s anytime price to notch against the Toffees.
Gary Cahill @ 17/2
The former Bolton and Aston Villa man scored his second goal of the season during his last appearance in front of the Blues faithful, but after being chopped and changed with Zouma since the start of January, Cahill looks best watched at the prices.
Filipe Luis @ 23/2
The summer signing from Atletico Madrid has only hit the back of the net once for Chelsea, away to Derby in the Capital One Cup seven weeks ago.
That means he has failed to notch in 20 of 21 appearances for the west Londoners so far, and may not even be in the team against Everton, having missed the last couple of matches through injury.
Cesar Azpilicueta @ 14/1
The man they call Dave down the King’s Road way hasn’t scored in 66 club-and-country appearances dating back to October 2013. Save your dough unless you think he’s due one.
