Everton vs Arsenal prediction: Gunners to end Goodison hoodoo

Kick-off: 1630, 17/09/2023

Stadium: Goodison Park

Arsenal will be looking to end a poor record at Goodison Park when they take on struggling Everton.

The Gunners have not won on their last five visits, losing four, and saw their Premier League title hopes suffer a huge blow last season when a 1-0 defeat in Sean Dyche’s first game as Toffees boss triggered a three-match winless streak.

But things can be different this time around and the visitors to win to nil at 17/10 is our first Everton vs Arsenal prediction.

Toffees need to start firing

Everton finally got off the mark in their last league outing after defeats to Fulham, Aston Villa and Wolves.

They collected their first point and scored their first goals of the campaign at Bramall Lane, with Arnaut Danjuma equalising in a 2-2 draw at fellow strugglers Sheffield United.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was the hero, making a miraculous double save at the death to secure a point.

The England international said: “We’ve got some new signings, a few players coming back from injuries. The squad’s going to strengthen and we just need to go forward as a team and be hard to beat.”

The Toffees failed to find the net in their trio of defeats to start the campaign but addressed that issue with the signing of Beto from Udinese.

Arsenal have conceded in every home game this season, although they kept a clean sheet in their only away trip at Crystal Palace.

Mikel Arteta’s side to win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 is Everton vs Arsenal odds.

Gunners to keep fine form going

Arsenal bounced back from the disappointment of drawing to 10-man Fulham with a dramatic win over Manchester United.

After Alejandro Garnacho had a late goal ruled out by VAR for United, the Gunners sealed a 3-1 victory courtesy of Declan Rice’s deflected strike and Gabriel Jesus’ sublime finish.

On Rice, Arteta said: “When you look at how a holding midfielder needs to dominate his area, how he needs to break up play, how he glided the team together when they were stretched a bit.

“Then he produced a magic moment to win us the game, so, (I’m) really happy with him. He’s a great kid. I think he’s fitting in brilliantly.”

Arsenal gained some revenge for that defeat on Merseyside last season with a 4-0 thumping in the return fixture.

They are averaging two goals a game in the Premier League so far, with Martin Odegaard providing two, including the winner at Selhurst Park.
