It appears Arsenal have made their first signing of the summer transfer window in double-quick time, with leaked pictures of Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka in the red of the Gunners emerging on Twitter.

Though the klaxon hasn’t sounded on the 23-year-old’s switch from Borussia Dortmund quite yet, a move costing Arsenal somewhere between £30m-£35m seems fairly set at this stage.
According to the papers there’s not much more good news around for Gooners at the moment, aside from a mooted interest in Southampton’s Sadio Mane covered here, with coach Arsene Wenger reportedly being thwarted in his attempts to bag two more top targets.
Numerous media sources, ranging from the Leicester Mercury, Daily Mail and various Liverpool blogs, believe Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are winning the race to sign champions Leicester City’s fantastically-named young English left-back Ben Chilwell, who Arsenal reportedly failed to land in January.
Chilwell’s route to the Liverpool first-team through Alberto Moreno seems a mite easier than taking on Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs at Arsenal, and Christian Fuchs in Claudio Ranieri’s side so it appears.
A figure of £3m is being bandied about for Chilwell’s services, presumably due to his contract length as such a sought-after, home-grown player would surely command a larger fee in normal circumstances.
The tales of Arsenal-related woe continue in The Metro, a dreadful source but repeated by many on this occasion, with rumours that Sevilla’s Polish international midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak will join Manchester United for around £30m.
Sport Mole and The Mirror report the news as Arsenal ‘missing out’ or being ‘pipped’ by their top-flight rivals, but with seemingly-similar type Xhaka thought to be in the bag for the same price, and given Wenger’s penchant for frugality, the truth may be somewhat more mundane.
