bwin have cut Arsenal from 5/1 to 51/20 to beat Real Madrid and Chelsea to the signing of Liverpool forward Luis Suarez after reports suggested the Gunners are preparing to up their offer for the wantaway Uruguayan.
Arsenal had a £30 million bid for Suarez, who is currently serving a ten-match domestic ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, rejected and dismissed out of hand by Liverpool last week but manager Arsene Wenger is apparently undeterred and will come back with an improved offer this week.
Wenger is operating with a sizeable transfer kitty this summer and is looking to add a top-class striker to his squad.
And with a move for Real Madrid star Gonzalo Higuain seemingly stalling, the Frenchman has turned to the Liverpool talisman.
Suarez, who scored 30 goals for the Reds in all competitions last season, is determined to leave Anfield this summer after the club finished seventh in the Premier League, and it was thought that Real Madrid were keen to move for him.
The Spanish giants are still the 23/20 favourites with bwin to sign Suarez this summer, but Arsenal are now as short as 51/20 to pull off what would be a sensational transfer coup after Suarez seemed to soften his stance on staying in England.
Chelsea are also believed to retain an interest in the former Ajax hitman and are 6/1 to persuade him to go to Stamford Bridge.
Despite the persistent rumours, Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has repeated that Suarez is not for sale.
“He has got three years left on his contract, we don’t want to sell him, and we hope everything will be fine for the summer,” said Rodgers after his side’s 4-0 win over Preston at Deepdale on Saturday.
“We want to bring in a few more players to reinforce the group and we think we can put up a real fight next season.”
Liverpool are 39/20 to keep hold of Suarez beyond the end of the summer transfer window, while it is 11/1 and bigger he signs for other clubs.
