Stoke’s price of 21/4 for a win makes them a tempting bet against an Arsenal side still short of confidence after a shaky start to the season.
In addition, four of Arsenal’s league defeats have come after a Champions League fixture, suggesting they could be particularly vulnerable following their win over Marseille on Wednesday.
However, only one of these defeats has come at the Emirates and the Gunners’ solid home form suggests they are still the team to back in bwin’s 3Way football betting market.
The draw at 11/4 certainly needs to be discounted, with none of the last ten meetings between the two sides ending this way.
And it is Arsenal who look the most likely to secure victory with odds of 11/20 given their five match winning run at their own ground.
Stoke’s poor form away from home will also give the Gunners hope, as will their run of nine home wins against Tony Pulis’ side in a row.
And like Arsenal, the Potters are particularly vulnerable when playing away from home after playing a midweek European game, as shown by the 4-0 defeat to Sunderland and 2-0 loss to Swansea which followed their fixtures against Dynamo Kiev and Besiktas respectively.
As a result, Arsene Wenger’s men look well placed to claim all three points, although Stoke’s ability to keep things tight means the winning margin is likely to be slim.
Seven of the eight league games featuring Stoke so far this season have contained fewer than three goals, making under 2.5 goals at the Emirates a good outcome to bet on at bwin’s price of evens.
This also makes sense given Arsenal are yet to rediscover their attacking fluency following the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, although their recent 1-0 win in the south of France proves they are significantly more solid than they were earlier in the season.
One other bet to consider would be for Arsenal to be ahead at half time as well as full time as 75 per cent of the goals conceded by Stoke in the league this season have been let in before the interval.
Arsenal have also scored in the first ten minutes of their last two home matches, which helps to ensure the odds of 5/4 on Arsenal/Arsenal in the half time/full time market hold appeal.
A successful £25 free bet on this outcome would secure £56.25, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
