Arsenal are reportedly about to return to Liverpool with an improved offer for striker Luis Suarez as the longest running transfer saga of the summer takes yet another twist – but bwin still make Real Madrid and Chelsea more likely destinations for the Reds star.
In what is becoming a bit of a soap opera, the last 24 hours have seen new developments to the Suarez story, with Arsenal having a £30 million bid rejected out of hand.
Somewhat surprisingly, that prompted the player to, if not talk up a move, then not exactly reject the idea of making a remarkable switch to the Emirates.
Suarez said it was nice to be “valued” by Arsenal and went on to apparently backtrack on his previous statements about wanting to leave Liverpool because of the treatment he has received by the English media.
“[English] clubs still value players for what they can do on the field,” he said.
“That makes me think I can come back and do well there. It’s good that the English clubs still want me.”
And with reports hinting that Arsenal’s move for Gonzalo Higuain, which for so long looked a done deal, could be about to break down, it is said that Arsene Wenger will return to Liverpool with an improved bid.
Yet bwin remain unmoved by all this speculation and, perhaps surprisingly given that so far Arsenal are the only side to show any concrete interest in the Anfield man, go 5/1 that Suarez ends up in north London this summer.
In other words, Gunners fans registering with us today and using their free £20 bet to back Suarez to join their club this summer will pocket winnings of £120 if the transfer happens.
At present, we make Real Madrid the 9/10 odds-on favourites to sign Suarez, while Chelsea, who are said to be monitoring the situation, are a 4/1 chance to convince the Uruguay star to move to Stamford Bridge.
Suarez is 9/4 to stay at Liverpool beyond the summer transfer window, while it is 14/1 and bigger he signs for anyone else.
