With four games to go, it’s getting to the point where Everton and Fulham are often left playing out time, but this campaign the Toffees will fight to the end in their outside bid for Champions League qualification.
A win over Martin Jol’s side could put Everton to within three points of fourth-placed Chelsea and they go in as clear favourites at 9/20 in bwin’s 3Way betting market.
Having turned in their typical away effort of just three wins on the road this term, Fulham are rightly a massive 25/4 to pull off the upset, with even a draw seemingly unlikely at 31/10.
However, in order to get the job done, David Moyes’ side will need a quick start similar to the ones they got in recent successes against QPR, Stoke and Man City, and it’s 3/4 for them to get the first goal in the first half and 11/25 to get the first corner.
Of late, one man has been stepping up for Moyes and that’s Victor Anichebe. The Nigerian grabbed the final goal in the Toffees’ last home game and is a decent 5/1 to repeat the feat, assuming he shakes off a hamstring complaint.
Moyes not only has Anichebe to call on but also top scorer Marouane Fellaini and in-form Kevin Mirallas – surely too many weapons for a Fulham defence that has looked very open in recent weeks and kept just one clean sheet since February.
Mirallas looks particularly good value to grab the opener at 6/1 having claimed five goals in his last seven appearances, while any Fellaini goal (7/5 to score any time) is almost a guarantee of victory as Everton are unbeaten in 12 league matches at Goodison when the Belgian has started this season.
New customers backing Fellaini with the free £20 bet they receive when registering with bwin stand to win a hair-raising £48 should the former Standard Liege man get on the scoresheet.
Yet Fulham are not without attacking options of their own, in particular top scorer Dimitar Berbatov, who is 5/2 to claim his fifth goal in the past seven games.
Despite that threat, I still fancy Everton to get the job done in comfortable fashion and claim all three points in a game of over 2.5 goals at 5/2.
