Manchester City were the only team to win at home in last week’s nine Premier League fixtures, but that trend could come to an abrupt end this weekend.
There are some nice looking odds on home victories and I’ll be taking Arsenal at 3/2 to beat Liverpool, Woves at 13/10 to beat Fulham and Norwich at 3/2 to beat Stoke.
Singularly, these results coming in would lead to small wins, but combine these odds into a treble and punters using their £25 free bet for joining bwin.com could win an impressive £359.38.
Home form is absolutely vital in the Premier League. Manchester United lifted their 19th title last season purely because they picked up 55 from 57 points at Old Trafford. West Brom, Sunderland and Blackpool all won as many away games as the champions.
Arsenal have been involved in some tight games with Liverpool in recent years, but their last home league defeat to Liverpool was over 10 years ago. They may be in a state of transition, but if the Gunners can convert their usual domination of possession into goals, they will be difficult to beat at the Emirates.
With 11 away defeats last season, Liverpool had the worst record on the road in the Premier League’s top 12 and although there were flashes of the old Reds‘ style last weekend against Sunderland, they appeared to fade badly in the second half.
Wolves made an excellent start to the campaign with victory at Blackburn and look in good shape to make it two wins from two. Interestingly, only eight teams recorded more home wins than Mick McCarthy’s team last season. It’s been 26 years and nine meetings since Fulham won at Molineux and only Bolton, West Ham and Birmingham managed fewer away wins than the Londoners in the Premier League last season.
Norwich, meanwhile, have suffered just one defeat at Carrow Road in 2011 and Paul Lambert appears to have his side well prepared for the top-flight fight. They may need it against a bulky Stoke team who are yet to concede this season. However, two goals for the Canaries should be enough against the low-scoring Potters.
Will home be where the money is this weekend?
