Glentoran’s poor home record makes Linfield favourites in this evening’s Belfast derby, despite their away victory over the league leaders in August.
The match pits first against fourth, with each team in good form having won four of their last five games.
Both sides failed to win their last fixture, with the lower-ranked Glentoran unable to capitalise on their rivals’ slip-up against Cliftonville when they drew 2-2 at home to Crusaders.
However, while Glentoran at least avoided defeat, their poor record at home gives Linfield the edge going into the game.
For while Glentoran have won six and lost only one of their seven away matches this season, they have only managed to win two of their seven home games.
Linfield look ideally placed to take advantage of this failing having won five of their seven away encounters, making them good bets to claim all three points at 13/10.
Meanwhile, a home win is priced at 9/5 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market.
However, it is the draw which could be the best bet at 11/5, with Glentoran’s blistering goalscoring form likely to ensure they stay on level terms with the away side.
Glentoran have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven fixtures, with this sequence including two 5-0 wins, a 4-0 victory and a 6-1 success over Carrick Rangers.
This makes them the most prolific scorers in Northern Ireland’s Premiership, although Linfield are only two goals behind them with 33 in 14 matches.
With both teams conceding at least a goal a game on average, the game promises to be full of attacking action.
As such, a bet on there to be at least four goals in the game at 31/20 looks attractive.
A successful £25 free bet on there to be over 3.5 goals in the game would return £63.75, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
And with goals on the agenda, a bet on a 2-2 scoreline at full time also looks appealing at odds of 10/1.
