Joe Sayers picks out the best bets from this weekend’s League Two programme, including a tip for Torquay to keep a clean sheet and Swindon to win by at least two goals.
Friday, April 13th
Barnet v Hereford United
Home win: 91/100 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 27/10
Key Stat: Hereford have lost five of their last six.
Betting Tip: This is a huge six-pointer and Barnet can go a long way to securing their safety with victory here. Barnet have not won in seven but with away side Hereford in equally poor form, I fancy them to pick up a huge and hard-fought victory here so suggest backing the draw/Barnet win at 17/4.
Saturday, April 14th:
Aldershot v Dagenham and Redbridge
Home win: Evens Draw: 11/5 Away win: 5/2
Key Stat: Daggers are unbeaten in six games.
Betting Tip: Aldershot have not won in three and I fancy an away win here – odds of 5/2 are worth backing.
Bristol Rovers v Burton Albion
Home win: Evens Draw: 9/4 Away win: 12/5
Key Stat: Both sides have averaged under a goal a game in their last ten.
Betting Tip: A mid-table clash here and one that could go either way. I don’t see there being goals in this one so odds of 23/10 on there being under 1.5 goals are worth a punt.
Cheltenham v Accrington Stanley
Key Stat: Stanley have not won away in eight games.
Betting Tip: Cheltenham won their last home game by two goals and I see them winning easily here. Back them to win by at least two goals in the handicap market at 23/10.
Crawley v AFC Wimbledon
Home win: 2/5 Draw: 16/5 Away win: 23/4
Key Stat: Crawley are unbeaten in ten league games.
Betting Tip: AFC Wimbledon have lost their last three games and could be in for a long afternoon here. Back Crawley to be winning at half time and full time at 21/20.
Macclesfield Town v Crewe Alexandra
Home win: 11/5 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 11/10
Key Stat: Crewe are unbeaten in 12 games.
Betting Tip: Crewe have been in fine form of late, sit just outside the play-offs and are strong favourites to win here. Macclesfield have not won in 2012 and I will back an away win here at 11/10.
Morecambe v Port Vale
Home win: 7/5 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 17/10
Key Stat: Morecambe have only won once in their last five.
Betting Tip: The Valiants have won their last two games and at 17/10 it’s hard to not back them here.
Northampton Town v Bradford City
Home win: 13/10 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 9/5
Key Stat: Bradford have lost their last six on the road.
Betting Tip: Northampton won their last home game and will fancy their chances against a Bradford side in freefall. Consider backing Northampton to win by at least two goals in the handicap market at 7/2.
Oxford United v Gillingham
Home win: Evens Draw: 9/4 Away win: 12/5
Key Stat: Oxford have not lost at home in nine league games.
Betting Tip: Gillingham have not won on the road in three and will face a tough test when they visit Oxford. Both sides have been in decent form and I see this one ending level in a score draw, so take the lead-draw at 31/10.
Shrewsbury Town v Rotherham United
Home win: 4/5 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 16/5
Key Stat: Shrewsbury have won four of their last five games.
Betting Tip: The Shrews are looking to cement their place in the automatic promotion positions and I can see them winning this easily. Back the home side to win by at least two goals in the handicap market at 23/10.
Swindon Town v Plymouth Argyle
Home win: 9/20 Draw: 29/10 Away win: 11/2
Key Stat: Plymouth have not won away from home in three games.
Betting Tip: The Pilgrims travel to a Swindon side who have only lost once at home all season. Swindon should run out comfortable winners in this one and back them to win by at least two goals in the handicap market at 13/10.
Torquay United v Southend United
Home win: 21/20 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 23/10
Key Stat: Torquay have only lost once in their last ten games.
Betting Tip: Southend have lost their last two away games without scoring and Torquay have been in imperious form as they have charged up the League Two ladder. Take odds of 9/5 on the away team failing to score for a third away game in a row.
