Southend v Barnet
Home win: 31/50 Draw: 5/2 Away win: 4/1
Key Stat: Southend have kept three clean sheets in their last four games.
Betting Tip: The Shrimpers can secure a play-off place with victory over a Barnet side who sit just three points above relegation. The visitors have not won in eight games and I can’t see anything but a comfortable home win. Back Southend to win by at least two goals in the handicap market at 17/10.
Saturday, April 21st
Accrington Stanley v Shrewsbury Town
Home win: 11/4 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 19/20
Key Stat: Shrewsbury have only lost once in their last 12 matches.
Betting Tip: The Shrews continue to march towards promotion and face an Accrington side with nothing but pride to play for. I can see the away side winning this one comfortably, so take odds of 19/10 on them to be leading at half time and full time.
AFC Wimbledon v Torquay United
Home win: 5/2 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 19/20
Key Stat: Torquay have kept three clean sheets in their last four games.
Betting Tip: The Dons have not won in four and could struggle against a Torquay side who are aiming for automatic promotion. Odds of 9/5 on the home side failing to score are hard to ignore.
Bradford City v Macclesfield Town
Home win: 4/5 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 3/1
Key Stat: Two of the league’s lowest scorers meet at Valley Parade
Betting Tip: Both sides are struggling for form and Macclesfield look set for relegation from the football league. This game could go either way but don’t expect a goal fest – odds of 13/5 on there being under 1.5 goals here is well worth a punt.
Burton Albion v Aldershot Town
Home win: 31/20 Draw: 11/5 Away win 31/20
Key Stat: Burton’s last three games have seen 15 goals scored.
Betting Tip: A mid-table clash here and one that could result in a goal fest. Both sides struggle to keep clean sheets so consider taking 11/5 on there being over 3.5 goals in this one.
Crewe Alexandra v Cheltenham Town
Home win: Evens Draw: 11/5 Away win: 5/2
Key Stat: Crewe are on a 13 game unbeaten run.
Betting Tip: Both sides are fighting for play-off positions but it is worth noting that the visitors have lost their last five on the road and have only scored once in that time. Crewe are 11/4 to win by at least two goals in the handicap market and given these two sides’ recent form that’s hard to ignore.
Dagenham and Redbridge v Crawley Town
Home win: 31/10 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 4/5
Key Stat: Both sides have drawn three and won four of their last seven games.
Betting Tip: This should be an evenly fought contest and the draw at 23/10 stands out for me here.
Gillingham v Swindon Town
Home win: 21/10 Draw: 21/10 Away win: 6/5
Key Stat: Gillingham have lost three of their last four at home.
Betting Tip: Swindon will be looking to bounce back from a surprise defeat on Tuesday night at Aldershot and I can see them returning to winning ways here. The visitors have won their last three games 1-0 and odds of 13/2 on a repeat score here are worth a punt.
Hereford United v Northampton Town
Home win: 5/4 Draw: 21/10 Away win: 2/1
Key Stat: Hereford have not won in seven games.
Betting Tip: This is a real six-pointer as Hereford know they have to win their last three games to stand any chance of survival. I can’t see them winning here as they look set for relegation, but with their visitors losing their last three a draw looks most likely. Take 3/1 on the lead-draw in the run of play market.
Plymouth Argyle v Oxford United
Home win: 9/5 Draw: 2/1 Away win: 29/20
Key Stat: Both sides have drawn three of their last six games.
Betting Tip: Two sides fighting at opposites ends of the table meet here and both have been in decent form of late. I can see this one being a tight clash and the draw at 2/1 is worth backing.
Port Vale v Bristol Rovers
Home win: 11/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 11/5
Key Stat: Bristol Rovers have not won on the road in six games.
Betting Tip: This should be a close game but it’s worth noting that Vale’s last three winners have come after the break. With their recent form in mind consider taking 9/2 on the draw/Port Vale win in the half time/full time market.
Rotherham United v Morecambe
Home win: 3/4 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 17/5
Key Stat: Rotherham have won four of their last five on home soil.
Betting Tip: Morecambe arrive having not won in three and also worth noting is that the home side have achieved victory in three of their last four home wins by way of a 1-0 scoreline. Odds of a fourth 1-0 win are 6/1.
