Aldershot v Accrington Stanley
Home win: 3/2 Draw: 2/1 Away win: 17/10
Betting tip: Worrying times for the Shots as they have now failed to score in five league games and sit agonisingly close to the relegation places. Stanley have enjoyed their away days in recent weeks having not lost in six League Two games on the road. Aldershot are 21/10 to fail to score again and given their current form that’s worth a punt.
Bradford City v Burton Albion
Home win: 11/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 11/5
Betting tip: The Bantams were denied all three points last weekend when Morecambe scored a 90th minute equaliser and Phil Parkinson will be looking for his side to improve their defensive record here. The Brewers are struggling for form having not scored in three games and only won once in five. But Bradford haven’t scored many of late either, so consider odds of 5/2 on there being under 1.5 goals in this clash.
Cheltenham Town v Bristol Rovers
Home win: 13/20 Draw: 5/2 Away win: 15/4
Betting tip: The Robins have now gone ten league games without defeat and are level on points with leaders Southend. Mark McGhee takes charge of the Pirates for the first time and will be hoping to inspire his new side to push away from the relegation battle. I can’t see anything but a comfortable home win and suggest backing Cheltenham to overcome a one-goal handicap and win at 7/4.
Crewe Alexandra v Dagenham & Redbridge
Home win: 19/20 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 5/2
Betting tip: The Railwaymen are mid-table in League Two but only sit five points off the play-off places. The Daggers return to league action following their FA Cup thumping at Millwall in midweek and need to find some form if they are to push themselves out of the relegation fight. Crewe have won their last two games after the break and I’m going to back that trend to continue, so take the draw/Crewe at 17/4.
Gillingham v AFC Wimbledon
Home win: 13/20 Draw: 13/5 Away: 18/5
Betting tip: The Gills have relied on their home form this season as they continue to be in the hunt for play-off places come May. Andy Hessenthaler’s side have only lost once at home in the league all season. The Dons picked up a vital victory last week and Terry Brown will be looking to continue that form here. Expect a tight clash so consider backing the lead-draw at 7/2 in the run of play market.
Morecambe v Torquay United
Home win: 7/5 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 17/10
Betting tip: The Shrimps’ inconsistent form over the past couple of months has seen their promotion charge stutter and leaves them languishing in mid-table going into this clash. The Gulls have been in flying form having only lost once in their last 11 League Two games and will fancy their chances here. Martin Ling’s side have won their last two away games 2-1 and are 35/4 to win by the same scoreline here.
Northampton Town v Barnet
Home win: 13/10 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 9/5
Betting tip: Fans of the Cobblers will be hoping for a better home performance from their side this weekend following a 5-2 thrashing by Southend last Saturday. Barnet stretched their unbeaten run to three games in all competitions following their 3-0 win at Accrington and will be confident of picking up another away win here. I fancy this to be a close game but Barnet to come out on top after the break. Consider odds of 23/4 on the draw/Barnet in the halftime/fulltime market.
Oxford United v Hereford United
Home win: 3/5 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 9/2
Betting tip: The Bulls will be looking to bounce back from defeat at the hands of Crewe in their last outing. Meanwhile, Jamie Pitman will be hoping his side’s 1-0 win last weekend is the start of a run of form that will see his side climb their way to League Two safety. There have been under 2.5 goals in the last three Oxford home games and the last three Hereford away games. Back another game with fewer than three goals at odds of 13/20.
Plymouth Argyle v Crawley Town
Home win: 18/5 Draw: 13/5 Away win: 13/20
Betting tip: Simon Walton’s 89th-minute winner last weekend gave the Pilgrims a vital three points as they are fighting desperately to maintain their league status. Steve Evans’ side have been in superb form of late having only lost once in their last 17 league games. I can’t see any way that Carl Fletcher’s side can stop Crawley and I am going to back Crawley to win by at least two goals at 9/5.
Rotherham United v Port Vale
Home win: 21/20 Draw: 23/10 Away win. 11/5
Betting tip: Two sides who are in inconsistent form meet at Don Valley as both sets of fans look set for a season of mid-table mediocrity in League Two. Both the Millers and the Valiants have struggled for goals in recent weeks having only scored five in their last five games. I see this one being a draw and with both sides’ recent goals-per-game record I suggest backing the 1-1 draw at 21/4.
Shrewsbury Town v Southend United
Home win: 5/4 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 39/20
Betting tip: The Shrews have only lost once in their last five games but will have to be on top form to avoid defeat when league leaders Southend visit New Meadow this weekend. Paul Sturrock’s Shrimpers are unbeaten in four and have scored eight goals in their last two league games. Expect plenty of attacking action between two in-form teams so back odds of 11/5 on there being over 3.5 goals in this match.
Swindon Town v Macclesfield Town
Home win: 37/100 Draw: 16/5 Away win: 13/2
Betting tip: The Robins are seemingly on an unstoppable course for promotion this season and they picked up their fourth straight victory last weekend and are now just six points off the top of League Two. The Silkmen have only won once in their last ten games and are likely to face a tough afternoon at the County Ground. I see Swindon dominating this one and suggest taking odds of them winning at halftime and fulltime at 19/20 and also 9/5 on there being over 3.5 goals as the Robins run riot.
