The market leaders in the League Two outright betting enjoyed a varied weekend as the campaign kicked off and as a result Rotherham United, Fleetwood Town, Chesterfield, Southend United, Oxford United, Aldershot Town, Gillingham, Torquay United, Bradford City, Port Vale, Wycombe Wanderers and Cheltenham Town have all seen changes to their ante-post price.
Rotherham United were the clear 33/10 favourites before a ball was kicked and bwin have cut the Millers slightly after a convincing 3-0 win over Burton Albion on the opening day, with Steve Crawley’s men now 3/1 to claim the League Two trophy.
Second favourites Fleetwood Town were 5/1 for the title despite being newly promoted from the Conference and the Cod Army have seen their odds lengthened to 6/1 after a 0-0 draw with Torquay United, who remain 22/1 for League Two.
As well as Fleetwood, several other sides have seen their odds drift after disappointing first day results. Chesterfield were in League One last season but the relegated side got off to a losing start, going down 1-0 away at Wimbeldon, and are now 12/1 (from 10/1) for the title. Similarly, Southend were beaten 1-0 at home to Accrington and have gone from 14/1 to 16/1 for League Two glory.
A handful of other sides have seen their odds cut after an impressive showing on the opening weekend. Aldershot have been cut from 20/1 to 14/1 after a good 2-0 win at Plymouth, while Gillingham have also been shortened to 16/1 (from 18/1) after beating Bradford – who are now 20/1 from 16/1 for League Two – 3-1. Oxford are also two points shorter at 12/1 after a good 2-0 victory at Bristol Rovers, who have drifted from 14/1 to 20/1.
Cheltenham are another side who have been slashed, from 28/1 to 22/1, after a winning start to the campaign. A 2-0 win at home to Dagenham and Redbridge doesn’t move Town out of the bottom half of the betting, though, with Port Vale at 20/1 (from 22/1) after a 3-0 win against Barnet, with Wycombe the same price (from 25/1) after seeing off newly promoted York 3-1.
