This Saturday’s tempting trio of teams to back for away wins in League One and League Two include top-of-the-table Tranmere Rovers, promotion-pushing Fleetwood Town and the rapidly-improving Rotherham.
What do Steve Evans, Ronnie Moore and Micky Mellon have in common? The answer is…not a lot, to be honest. But while I struggled to find a link between these three heavyweights of lower-league management, on this particular weekend they do have some shared ground – they are all looking good for away wins.
If you look at the numbers, this is one trio of teams that could really add up when it comes to a treble punt this weekend. And when I say add up, I mean add up to big winnings for anyone with the cojones to put some money on the line.
Rotherham are on a great run of form at the moment and should make short work of a sorry Dagenham & Redbridge, while Tranmere are favourites against Oldham and Fleetwood could do the business against Exeter City.
Backing all three will give you odds of nearly 27/2, which could provide returns of £266.19 for anyone using bwin’s free £20 bet upon registering.
Shall we begin?
Tranmere Rovers to beat Oldham Athletic @ 33/20
Ronnie Moore no doubt breathed a sigh of relief last time out after seeing his Tranmere team return to winning ways with a 2-0 away success over Hartlepool United.
The victory represented the Lilywhites’ fourth win from their last five away games in League One, with the Merseyside club scoring 12 goals along the way.
Top of the table and favourites for promotion, Tranmere will fancy their chances of claiming a victory away at Oldham as the Latics have endured a bad time at home of late.
Paul Dickov’s side have won just two of their last eight matches at Boundary Park and look unlikely to add to that tally against the Lilywhites. An away win is heavily fancied at 33/20.
Fleetwood Town to beat Exeter City @ 29/20
Exeter City may have claimed a win over a woeful AFC Wimbledon in midweek, but manager Paul Tisdale will have to do a lot more to lift the gloom at the south-coast club, who lost five and drew one of their previous six fixtures prior to that victory.
Fleetwood, meanwhile, have travelled well since their arrival in League Two and are six games without defeat away from home. They are also on a five-game unbeaten run – including a 2-1 win away at Chesterfield.
With the Cod Army pushing for back-to-back promotions, spirit in the camp should be high and they can exploit Exeter’s frailties with an away win at 29/20.
Rotherham to beat Dagenham and Redbridge @ 21/20
Things finally look to have settled down for Rotherham and their perennial bad boy boss Steve Evans. The Millers have claimed four wins and a draw from their last five competitive matches and currently sit in seventh – just inside the play-off places.
Unbeaten in four games away from home, Rotherham will be confident of extending that run against struggling Dagenham and Redbridge, who have won just one of their last five games in all competitions.
The Daggers have been notably blunt in their last two home outings too and have picked up just two wins in their last six at Victoria Road. It’s all shaping up for an away win – and hopefully one part of a winning treble – at 21/20.
