While the midweek Champions League and Europa League action may have been a tad predictable, backing away wins for Tranmere Rovers, Bradford City and Port Vale could help you upset the odds and win big this Saturday.
The usual comings and goings of the Premier League may continue to dominate the national press, but I for one predict that it’s the action in League One and League Two that will dominate the headlines in the betting world, particularly if you cash in on this terrific trio.
I’m expecting Tranmere to bounce back from their recent blip with a win against a sorry Stevenage, while Port Vale and Bradford City look good to trounce relegation battlers Aldershot and Bristol City respectively.
While each offers a value punt in its own right or a solid inclusion on an accumulator, backing these three in a 12/1 treble could earn you big money, with returns of £258 available for anyone using bwin’s free £20 bet for registering.
With that in mind, let’s look at the stats.
Tranmere Rovers to beat Stevenage @ 6/4
While Tranmere may have hit the skids a little in their last few games, with a last-minute defeat to MK Dons coupled with a draw against Walsall, I predict better things this time out.
After all, Ronnie Moore’s team continue to lead the way in League One and should be fancied to continue a fine run of form on the road of late.
The Lilywhites have picked up wins in six of their last seven away games and will be confident in their chances of extending that run against a Stevenage team in hopeless form.
Gary Smith’s men have won just one of their last six competitive games and have been particularly woeful at Broadhall Way, having shipped four goals in their last two defeats to Swindon Town and Preston North End.
Tranmere should have enough quality to grind out the win and 6/4 is a decent price considering Stevenage’s recent woes.
Port Vale to beat Aldershot Town @ 23/20
Port Vale’s 4-0 midweek win over Bristol Rovers saw Micky Adams’ team continue their promotion push in League Two and close the gap on leaders Gillingham.
The Vale are unbeaten in five games and must head to Alderhot confident of more success given their recent record against Dean Holdsworth’s team.
Port Vale have won each of their last four meetings with Aldershot, including two notable 2-1 away triumphs.
By contrast, the Shots continue to struggle, with just one win in their last four and just a single victory to their name from six home encounters – all of which adds up to an away win at 23/20.
Bradford City to beat Bristol Rovers @ 7/5
Like Aldershot before them, Bristol Rovers continue to struggle in League Two, having lost six of their last seven competitive games.
Home form continues to be an issue for the south-west club, with Rovers picking up just one win in their last three matches at the Recreation Ground.
Bradford may prove too strong for the Bristolians as the Bantams head into this encounter having won three of their last four games.
The Yorkshire club have proven tough to beat on the road too, having lost just one of their last six away encounters, and they should be trusted to heap more misery on the Pirates.
