While the only trio featuring in the 12 Days of Christmas are three French hens, when it comes to League One and League Two, I’ve managed to pluck three beautiful away winners in the form of Coventry, Bradford and Brentford.
This terrific trio of teams is most certainly more fair than fowl, offering odds of just over 25/1 for anyone willing to take a punt on them delivering away wins over Doncaster, Southend and Notts County this Saturday.
It’s the sort of bet that could make the difference between enjoying a wonderful Christmas of chestnuts roasting on an open fire and joy aplenty or the kind of festive celebrations that even the writing team behind Eastenders would label ‘a bit too bleak’.
After all, by taking advantage of Bwin’s free £20 bet for registering, you could be in for returns of £511.50. Did that get you attention? Good.
Brentford to beat Notts County @ 7/4
These two teams have drawn their previous eight meetings, but I fancy Uwe Rosler’s high-flying Brentford to snatch a win here, particularly after seeing their impressive 3-2 victory over Championship chasers MK Dons last Saturday.
The Bees have lost just two of their last 19 competitive matches and head into this one with just one defeat from their last six away trips.
In contrast, Notts County have just one win in six, with current boss Keith Curle no doubt dreading a meeting with his former Manchester City teammate Rosler.
With just one home win in seven at Meadow Lane, odds of 7/4 on an away win look mighty fine.
Coventry City to beat Doncaster Rovers @ 2/1
Coventry are flying at the moment, and could well pose a problem to Dean Saunders’ Doncaster, who appear to have hit the skids at the worst possible moment.
Donny are without a win in three matches, and have lost two of their last four home matches this term. The Sky Blues, meanwhile, have lost just one of their last ten games, claiming eight wins and a draw in the other nine.
Allied to this, the Midlands club are on a run of three straight wins on the road, with nine goals scored along the way.
Back an away win at 2/1.
Bradford City to beat Southend United @ 21/10
A statue of Phil Parkinson may soon be erected in the city of Bradford, given the Bantams exploits in League Two and the cups this season.
Confidence will be high following their midweek success against Arsenal, which was their third straight win in all competitions. The Bantams are unbeaten in six games and have lost just two of their last 17.
And while Southend are riding high in League Two at present, defeats at home against lowly Burton and Aldershot suggest that there could be some room for optimism against the League Cup hopefuls.
Have a punt on them to win it at 21/10.
