Huddersfield are in prime position to book a League One play-off final spot against Sheffield United ahead of their semi-final second leg against MK Dons this evening.
The Terriers lead the Dons 2-0 after the first leg and boast home advantage in the return fixture.
They therefore go into the match as odds-on favourites at 1/20 to set up a meeting with the Blades at Wembley.
Simon Grayson’s men are also evens favourites to win the second leg in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with the draw at 12/5 and an away success on the night at 23/10.
The Dons have not lost on the road since a trip to league champions Charlton on February 14th.
Given MK Dons have not beaten Huddersfield in eight attempts, the omens don’t look good for Karl Robinson’s men.
Nevertheless, with the second-best attacking record in League One, the Dons have it in them to mount a comeback.
Interestingly, they have the best record after the first 45 minutes of away matches of all the teams in League One, suggesting they could put Huddersfield under pressure by establishing a lead in the first half.
MK Dons have been ahead at the break in 13 of their 23 away matches in the league this term, which is three more than next-best Brentford, with ten.
And while Huddersfield have only been behind at half time in three of their league matches at the Galpharm Stadium this season, the fact they have only been ahead on nine occasions – with 11 draws – shows they are not the fastest starters and perhaps suggests they could be vulnerable to an early MK Dons onslaught.
After all, Robinson will have his men fired up from the outset as he seeks to engineer a way back into the tie, making odds of 14/5 on MK Dons establishing a half time lead well worth taking advantage of.
A successful £25 free bet on MK Dons to be ahead at the break is set to return £95, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
But even if MK Dons aren’t ahead at the interval, it could still be worth backing them to avoid defeat.
Although Huddersfield have largely confined their bad results to away games in recent times, they have won just four of their last nine matches.
This makes odds of 3/4 on an MK Dons win or draw tonight look extremely good value, particularly as the Dons have not lost on the road since a trip to league champions Charlton on February 14th.
MK Dons to be winning at half time @ 14/5
MK Dons to avoid defeat @ 3/4
