Brentford (7th) v Huddersfield Town (9th)
Home 3/2 Draw 11/5 Away 31/20
Betting Tip: Uwe Rosler’s boys haven’t won in their last three home games and face another tough test this weekend when fellow promotion hopefuls Huddersfield visit Griffin Park. Lee Clarke’s side narrowly missed out on promotion last season and are currently on an incredible 35 game unbeaten run in the league, and with an impressive 3-0 win at Bramall Lane earlier in the month, it’s hard to bet against them here. Back the Terriers to come away with a win at 31/20.
Chesterfield (15th) v Colchester United (14th)
Home 6/5 Draw 11/5 Away 2/1
Betting Tip: After taking some time to settle into life in League One the Spireites have picked up some form, especially at home, and they welcome a Colchester side to the B2net stadium who have not won on their travels since the opening weekend of the season. There are usually goals in this fixture, with 14 being scored in the last four games at Chesterfield, so back there to be over 2.5 goals at 3/4.
Exeter City (23rd) v Oldham Athletic (12th)
Home 13/10 Draw 21/10 Away 39/20
Betting Tip: The Grecians are on the slide and have only managed to find the net once in their last five league outings – and even that was an own goal. Oldham have won their last two away games and should win here. If you like adding a little extra spice to your bet try the handicap market, give Exeter a 1-0 lead and take the Latics to win at 11/2.
Hartlepool United (4th) v Sheffield Wednesday (8th)
Home 5/4 Draw 11/5 Away 19/10
Betting Tip: While the Owls have been perfect on home soil they have struggled to take flight away from Hillsborough. The start of season favourites will be in for another stern challenge at Victoria Park where Mick Wadsworth’s side are unbeaten and enjoying a fine start to the season. Wednesday are improving on the road and I fancy them to pick up a win here. Expect the game to be close and back the game to be level at half time and the Owls picking up the win come full time at 6/1.
Leyton Orient (24th) v Preston North End (2nd)
Home 5/2 Draw 12/5 Away 91/100
Betting Tip: It’s surely only a matter of time before the Os pick up their first three points of the season. Russell Slade’s side can take confidence from their fine 2-2 draw at Huddersfield and an impressive showing in the League Cup at Blackburn in recent weeks but come up against a Preston side who seem determined to bounce back up to the Championship at the first time of asking. I can’t see anything other than a win for the boys from Deepdale and I fully expect them to dominate from the off. Back them to be winning at the half and on full time at 2/1.
Milton Keynes Dons (5th) v Notts County (6th)
Home 83/100 Draw 12/5 Away 29/10
Betting Tip: Both sides find themselves in the top half of the league and hope to be challenging for those play-off places come May. The Dons go into the game off the back of three draws at home and expect another evenly fought contest here. The boys from Meadow Lane have finally started to find their feet on their travels and with that in mind it’s worth taking a punt on the score draw. Both teams are not shy in front of goal so I’m going for a score prediction of 2-2 at 12/1.
Rochdale (21st) v Wycombe Wanderers (20th)
Home Evens Draw 11/5 Away 49/20
Betting Tip: The Chairboys have enjoyed their trips to Spotland down the years having won on their last four visits. Rochdale have not managed to beat Wycombe on home soil in the league and that will cheer travelling Wanderers fans in this basement battle. Both sides have been leaking goals and neither go into this clash in any sort of form. In the run of play market back the team who takes the lead to go on to draw this game at 31/10.
Sheffield United (3rd) v Charlton Athletic (1st)
Home 6/5 Draw 11/5 Away 2/1
Betting Tip: This could be a real cracker at Bramall Lane with both sides finding themselves in the top three. The Blades have been blunted in recent weeks, losing two out of their last three games, and they face a Charlton side who are simply on fire. The Addicks’ unbeaten run has to come to an end though and don’t be surprised to see the Blades edge a close contest. Take the game to be level at the break and Danny Wilson’s men to win the game at 19/4.
Stevenage Borough (13th) v Scunthorpe United (16th)
Home 13/10 Draw 11/5 Away 37/20
Betting Tip: The Iron have not won away from Glanford Park so far this season and fans travelling down to Broadhall Way can be forgiven for feeling glum. Stevenage have been impressive at home and thumped Sheffield Wednesday 5-1 earlier this month. Stevenage can’t seem to stop conceding goals of late and Stevenage have scored 11 goals in their five league matches at home. It could be raining goals here and odds of there being over 3.5 goals at 2/1 is well worth a punt.
Tranmere Rovers (11th) v Bournemouth (18th)
Home 11/10 Draw 11/5 Away 11/5
Betting Tip: Both teams have enjoyed the second half of matches this season with the majority of their goals coming after the interval. This should be a very evenly contested game and even though the Cherries find themselves dangerously close to the relegation dogfight they have won their last two away games. Don’t expect too many fireworks in this game and I fancy a stalemate here. I’m going for a draw at the break and on the final whistle at 4/1.
Walsall (17th) v Carlisle United (10th)
Home 7/5 Draw 11/5 Away 17/10
Betting Tip: The Cumbrians have enjoyed their away days this season in League One and will fancy their chances of picking up another three points on the road against Dean Smith’s side. Walsall have averaged a goal a game this season in the league but I just have a feeling Greg Abbott’s men will be too strong and odds of a 2-1 away win at 9/1 are very tempting indeed.
Yeovil Town (19th) v Bury (22nd)
Home 11/10 Draw 11/5 Away 11/5
Betting Tip: Fans of these two are preparing themselves for what could be a long, hard winter battling against the dreaded drop. Both teams are desperate for a win and the chance to lift themselves up the table, even only for a short while. Three out of the Glovers’ five home games in the league have finished 1-0 and given the fact the Shakers haven’t scored in three games, 1-0 Yeovil at 13/2 is worth consideration.
