Brentford (5th) v Preston North End (8th)
Home win: 13/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 9/5
Betting tip: Preston are unbeaten on the road this season, conceding only one goal in their two away games; the Bees have lost their last two league games at Griffin Park. Get on Preston to come out victorious here at 9/5.
Chesterfield (17th) v Carlisle United (11th)
Home win: 3/2 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 31/20
Betting tip: Greg Abbott’s side have certainly enjoyed their trips away from Brunton Park so far this season, winning three and drawing one on their four away days. The Cumbrians will travel to The Spireites confident of extending that unbeaten record with Chesterfield struggling for form on home soil. Carlisle have won 2-1 on their last two away days and those who back them to make that a third 2-1 away win at 9/1 will be very happy if the result comes in.
Exeter City (23rd) v Bournemouth (20th)
Home win: 13/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 9/5
Betting tip: Both sides have struggled to hit the back of the net this season so fans travelling to St James’ Park could be forgiven for fearing a drab encounter. However, with only two clean sheets between them all season expect goals here, and plenty of them. In the how many goals scored market take over 3.5 at 12/5.
Hartlepool United (7th) v Bury (19th)
Home win: 4/5 Draw: 5/2 Away win: 14/5
Betting tip: Mick Wadsworth’s Pools are unbeaten at home in League One so far this season and don’t back against that stat changing here. The Shakers have only picked up four points from a possible 12 on their travels and have scored just three goals in those four games. Give Bury a 1-0 lead in the handicap market and back Hartlepool to still win at 12/5.
Leyton Orient (24th) v Oldham Athletic (13th)
Home win: 5/4 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 19/10
Betting tip: Worrying times for fans of the Os at the moment, as they are without a league win all season and have accumulated just two points. Paul Dickov will take his side to Brisbane Road this weekend confident of adding to last weekend’s away victory at Walsall and odds of an Oldham win at 19/10 are hard to ignore.
Milton Keynes Dons (4th) v Huddersfield Town (3rd)
Home win: 13/10 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 9/5
Betting tip: This could well be the game of the weekend in League One. Both sides are flying at the moment and scoring plenty of goals between them. It’s worth noting that the Terriers have not lost on their last four visits to stadium:mk. Karl Robinson’s side have not suffered a defeat at home this season so the standout bet here is in the run of play market – back a side to take the lead and the game to end in a draw at 29/10. Rochdale (18th) v Charlton Athletic (1st)
Home win: 41/20 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 23/20
Betting tip: Dale picked up their first home win of the campaign last weekend but that won’t fill fans with too much hope when league leaders Charlton visit Spotland this weekend. The Addicks have been perfect on the road so far this season, winning three out of three games and scoring two goals in each of those away days. Back Chris Powell’s men to dominant from the off and take them to be winning at half time and full time at 29/10.
Sheffield United (2nd) v Colchester United (14th)
Home win: 3/4 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 7/2
Betting tip: The Blades will be looking to bounce back after being blunted in their last outing at Bramall Lane by promotion rivals Huddersfield. John Ward’s side will provide tough opposition though having only lost once on their travels so far this season. With the Us averaging two goals a game on their travels expect goals here and odds on there being over 3.5 goals in this game at 9/5 must be considered.
Stevenage Borough (6th) v Notts County (9th)
Home win: Evens Draw: 9/4 Away win: 12/5
Betting tip: This is the first ever meeting between these two sides and Graham Westley’s Stevenage have been in explosive goalscoring form of late, netting nine goals in their last two home games. Notts County have not won on the road since the opening weekend. Take a punt on Notts County failing to find the net here at 9/5.
Tranmere Rovers (12th) v Wycombe Wanderers (22nd)
Home win: 9/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 14/5
Betting tip: Rovers have not tasted victory on home soil since the opening weekend and have struggled to entertain their fans with goals, scoring only three times in four games at Prenton Park. Wycombe have averaged a goal a game away from home this season but have not scored in their last two away from Adams Park. With that in mind take the goalless draw at 35/4.
Walsall (15th) v Scunthorpe United (21st)
Home win: 3/2 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 8/5
Betting tip: Both sides are struggling to find any kind of form during the early stages of the season and worryingly for Dean Smith’s men they have only scored twice at home all season. Alan Knill’s side have hardly been in free-scoring form themselves. All signs point to a fairly low key, low scoring game I’m afraid. Back there to be under 1.5 goals in this clash at 13/5.
Yeovil Town (16th) v Sheffield Wednesday (10th)
Home win: 9/5 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 13/10
Betting tip: There have only ever been four competitive meetings between these two sides and Yeovil have yet to come out victorious. Terry Skiverton will fancy his side’s chances though given the Owls’ stuttering away form so far this season. However, you would expect Gary Megson’s side to improve drastically after their 5-1 thumping at Stevenage last weekend. Wednesday have scored all of their goals away from home after the break this season so odds of the game being a draw at the interval and the Owls winning the game at 19/4 are worth a punt.
