Bournemouth v Notts County
Home win: 19/20 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 5/2
Betting tip: The Cherries go into this clash within striking distance of the play-offs having only lost once in their last 11 league games. The Magpies arrive in contrasting form to their hosts having only won once in their last 11 outings yet can climb above them with victory here. Both sides have scored an average of 1.5 goals in their last ten matches and I fancy more of the same here. Consider odds of 2/1 on there being over 3.5 goals.
Brentford v Walsall
Home win: 18/25 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 7/2
Betting tip: Uwe Rosler’s side drew their fourth game in five last weekend to stretch their winless streak to five matches in League One but they still find themselves firmly in the play-off picture. The Saddlers have only picked up one victory in their last 12 attempts and sit dangerously close to the foot of the league ladder. With both sides having drawn more than they have won in recent weeks I fancy a score draw here. Take the lead-draw at 17/5 in the run of play market.
Bury v Sheffield United
Home win: 21/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 23/20
Betting tip: Richard Barker’s side go into their clash with Danny Wilson’s men stuck in mid-table and in inconsistent form. They could be in for a tough afternoon as automatic promotion contenders United arrive having won seven of their last eight games. I see the Blades winning comfortably here and suggest backing them to be winning at halftime and fulltime at 5/2.
Colchester United v Scunthorpe United
Home win: 21/20 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 9/4
Betting tip: Fans of Colchester will arrive at the Weston Homes Community Stadium unsure of which side they will be supporting. The U’s have gone from thrashing Bury 4-1 one week to getting destroyed 6-1 by Stevenage the next. The Iron picked up their first win in eight last week and Alan Knill will be hoping that result will spark his stuttering side in to form. I fancy Colchester to come out on top here but predict a close encounter. With Scunthorpe level at half time in 50 per cent of their away matches so far this season, consider backing the draw/Colchester win in the halftime/fulltime market at 9/2.
Exeter City v Hartlepool
Home win: 13/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 37/20
Betting tip: Both sides come into this clash off the back of moral boosting 2-0 victories in their last outings and fans of both clubs will be hoping that can be a springboard for their sides to push on as we edge towards the home straight of the campaign. These two teams have found wins and goals hard to come by so expect an even, low scoring affair here. Consider odds of 23/10 on there being under 1.5 goals in this one.
Huddersfield Town v Oldham Athletic
Home win: 11/20 Draw: 11/4 Away win: 17/4
Betting tip: The Terriers boast arguably the in-form striker in the country with Jordan Rhodes enhancing his reputation last weekend with an impressive five goals against Wycombe. This week sees the turn of the Latics’ back four to try and stop the Rhodes force as they arrive at the Galpharm Stadium having only won once in their last six league matches. I fear for Paul Dickov’s side here. With Rhodes looking imperious, back Huddersfield to overturn a one-goal handicap to win at 3/2.
Leyton Orient v Chesterfield
Home win: 19/20 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 5/2
Betting tip: The Os will be looking to bounce back following a heavy 4-1 defeat at Carlisle last weekend. The Spireites are beginning to looked doomed at the foot of League One as they have now gone 16 league games without a win. These two have played out a goalless draw in three of their last five games so backing the 0-0 at 10/1 is worth a punt.
Milton Keynes Dons v Carlisle United
Home win: 4/5 Draw: 12/5 Away: 3/1
Betting tip: The Dons have been in fine form of late having lost just once in their last 15 games in all competitions and will be further boosted following their 1-1 draw with Premier League QPR last weekend. The Cumbrians have been in decent nick themselves and are currently on a seven game unbeaten run. This should be a real close game and I fancy this to end level, so suggest backing the draw at 12/5.
Preston North End v Wycombe Wanderers
Home win: 3/4 Draw: 5/2 Away win: 31/10
Betting tip: PNE have found some form in recent weeks having only lost once in their last seven games in all competitions and will be confident of picking up three points when struggling Wycombe arrive at Deepdale. The Chairboys have lost their last three games without managing to hit the back of the net. Consider backing odds of 37/20 on Wycombe failing to score here.
Rochdale v Stevenage Borough
Home win: 2/1 Draw: 21/10 Away win: 5/4
Betting tip: Chris Beech is still looking for his first win in charge of the Dale and as his side is without a victory in six games their League One future is in serious jeopardy. Stevenage arrive at Spotland full of confidence following their impressive 1-0 win at Championship club Reading last weekend in the FA Cup. Both sides have struggled in front of goal lately and I suggest backing under 1.5 goals in this clash at 9/4.
Sheffield Wednesday v Charlton Athletic
Home win: 27/20 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 7/4
Betting tip: The Owls’ unbeaten home record will come under serious scrutiny this weekend when league leaders Charlton visit Hillsborough. Gary Megson’s side pulled off an FA Cup shock last weekend by knocking out Championship outfit West Ham and Chris Powell’s side will need to be on top form here. This could be the game of the weekend in League One and I fancy there to be goals in this one given they are both among the highest scorers in the league. Take odds of 39/20 on there being over 3.5 goals.
Yeovil Town v Tranmere Rovers
Home win: 27/20 Draw: 21/10 Away win: 33/20
Betting tip: Gary Johnson takes charge of his first home game in his second managerial spell at Huish Park and will know he has to turn his side’s fortunes around quickly if they are to maintain their League One status. Rovers have lost their last four games on the road and have only won once in their last nine league games. With the Glovers buoyed by Johnson’s return, back them to come out on top. And with the draw the most popular half time result in Yeovil home matches this season, back the draw/Yeovil win at half time/full time at 21/4.
