Carlisle face a long trip south to play Leyton Orient in this League One encounter but look likely to return to Cumbria with at least a point.

Orient go into this clash slight favourites in bwin’s 3way football betting market with odds of 7/5, with the draw at 11/5 and Carlisle available at 17/10.

Despite finishing seventh in 2010/11, the O’s have had a disastrous start to this campaign, losing all four league games so far, including being hammered 5-0 by London rivals Brentford in their last outing.

Carlisle come into this game in slightly better shape, sitting eighth in the table having won 2-1 at home to last year’s play-off semi-finalists Bournemouth.

Last season, this fixture finished in a 0-0 draw, and a look at the form book shows that four of the last five encounters between Orient and Carlisle at the Matchroom Stadium have resulted in a share of the spoils.

With this in mind, a score of 0-0 at full-time is available at tempting odds of 7/1, while some punters could look to back a final score of 1-1 at 23/4.

Orient have scored just three goals in their last five competitive fixtures and with a low-scoring outcome likely in this encounter, backing a narrow win for the Cumbrians could be an alternative approach.

Carlisle are priced at 21/4 to turn a half-time draw into a full-time win, which means a successful free £25 bet on this outcome would return an impressive £156.25.

In terms of team news, Orient go into this fixture without injured duo Jamie Jones and Jake Argent, although they do have Jonathan Téhoué back in contention as the striker has served his suspension for his sending off against Southend in the Carling Cup.

United, meanwhile, will be without right-back Frank Simek, Paddy Madden and Brad Potts.

The overriding feeling is that this fixture is unlikely to be a thriller and it will be a tough, closely-fought clash for both sides. But with Orient struggling so badly for form, taking the draw or the Carlisle win in the double chance market at 12/25 may be the safest bet of all.
