Brentford are the 2/1 favourites to win the League One play-offs ahead of Sheffield United, Yeovil Town and Swindon Town as the third tier came to a close in unbelievable circumstances on Saturday.
Brentford have been installed as favourites to win the League One play-offs ahead of Sheffield United, Yeovil Town and Swindon Town despite being denied automatic promotion in extraordinary fashion at the weekend.
With Bournemouth already assured a top-two finish and a place in the Championship, Brentford hosted Doncaster Rovers on Saturday in a sudden-death, winner-takes-all game at Griffin Park.
The Bees needed a win to secure promotion and with the game deep into injury time, they were awarded a penalty which would have taken them up at Donny’s expense.
However, on-loan forward Marcello Trotta hammered his spot-kick against the bar and as the ball dropped back into play, Rovers broke down the other end and scored to secure a 1-0 win that saw them snatch the title from Bournemouth.
The incredible finale to the season has left Brentford in the play-offs, but bwin make them 2/1 to get over their heartbreak and lift the trophy at Wembley in a market you can see by clicking here.
Sheffield United and Swindon are both priced up at 13/5, while Yeovil are the 7/2 outsiders to be playing Championship football next season, with the semi-finals beginning on Friday.
United are 11/10 to beat Yeovil in the semi-final first leg at Bramall Lane, with the draw at 11/5 and the Glovers a 21/20 chance.
The Blades are 3/5 to reach Wembley, with Gary Johnson’s side pegged as 6/5 outsiders.
In Saturday’s last-four first leg, Swindon are 23/20 favourites to get the better of Brentford, who are 2/1 to get a win at the County Ground. The draw is priced at 11/5.
bwin go 3/4 that the Bees get to the final, as opposed to 19/20 about Town.
