CLICK TO BET: Bournemouth (11/10), draw (11/5), Rochdale (11/5)
League One side Bournemouth host fellow strugglers Rochdale at Dean Court in what could prove to be the proverbial relegation six-pointer even at this stage of the season.
Lee Bradbury’s side hover above the relegation places with just ten points from 11 games while Rochdale sit in 17th position with 11 points.
Both clubs have had stuttering starts in the league and are low on confidence in front of goal so this has all the makings of a cagey, low-scoring affair.
The Cherries have managed just one win in five matches at home, scoring a measly four goals in the process – the joint-lowest home tally in the division – and conceding ten.
Meanwhile, the Dale’s away form mirrors that of Bournemouth’s at home: one win and four losses.
Steve Eyre’s men have notched six goals but shipped 12 at the other end, the joint-highest in League One.
In essence, Bournemouth are poor at home and their opponents are equally as bad on their travels. Don’t expect a classic.
With both teams hardly prolific in front of goal, odds of 19/20 on under 2.5 goals looks a value bet, as does at least one team failing to score at 23/20.
Taking this further, punters could back odds of 21/2 on the match ending 0-0.
New customers joining bwin receive a free £25 bet so backing this outcome would return £287.50 if successful.
Those punters who prefer to bet based on head-to-head records rather than current form will recall that Rochdale beat Bournemouth 2-1 in this corresponding fixture at the end of last season.
However, it is the home side who lead overall with 13 wins compared to the away side’s six victories.
There have also been 13 draws – a telling statistic, and one which suggests this is the option to back at odds of 11/5.
Nevertheless, Bournemouth are chalked up as 11/10 favourites in bwin’s 3Way betting market and will take heart from their 3-2 midweek home win over League One relegation candidates Yeovil in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Meanwhile, Rochdale are priced at 11/5.
