The weekend in Spain kicks off with what should be a home banker as struggling Valladolid make the trip south to take on a Malaga side who have surpassed all expectations so far this season.
Sitting third in the Primera Division, and having won both their inaugural Champions League matches without conceding a goal, it is fair to say that Manuel Pellegrini’s team are riding high, despite having sold two of their best players in the summer.
Indeed they would have been riding at even greater altitude had they not lost their unbeaten record to a late own goal at Atletico Madrid in their last match. Nevertheless, the visit of Valladolid to La Rosaleda provides Malaga with the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways.
If Malaga have been impressive then the side from the region of Castilla-Leon have been at best inconsistent. Their last match saw them struggle a to claim a 1-1 draw at home to bottom of the table Espanyol, who played a large part of the game with ten men.
Prior to that they produced an anomalous 6-1 thrashing of Rayo Vallecano, yet overall they have not been overly inspiring and on the road they have lost their last two matches.
Malaga, meanwhile, have been strong at home winning ten of their last 13 league matches, during which time they have suffered just a solitary defeat. The price of 11/20 for a home win this afternoon, may not be the biggest, but for Saturday’s bet of the day, we are looking for a solid, sound investment, and backing an in-form Malaga at home to a Valladolid side who have failed to impress on their travels looks to fit the bill perfectly.
