While last weekend saw Spain’s big two face potential banana skins in the form of away trips to Rayo Vallecano and Real Mallorca respectively, this Saturday’s fixtures look infinitely more straight forward.
Barcelona host Celta Vigo just before Madrid welcome Real Zaragoza to the Santiago Bernabeu and anything other than two convincing home victories would be a massive shock. The Spanish champions are unbeaten at home this season and are priced at 1/10 to record another victory over Zaragoza, with the away side at 19/1 and the draw at 8/1.
Yet Manolo Jimenez’s team have started this season much brighter than the previous campaign and already have two wins on the road from their four matches played. It is worth noting that last season it took Zaragoza until their 15th away match before they had amassed their second win. Also worth noting is Zaragoza’s penultimate visit to the Bernabeu, when two seasons ago they stunned Madrid by recording a 3-2 victory.
However, despite the statistics and recent history this should be yet another comfortable win for Jose Mourinho’s men. With Zaragoza yet to keep a clean sheet this season and Madrid netting 14 goals in their last four league outings, this could looks like being another high scoring encounter. Over 3.5 goals is available at 13/20 and has paid out in each of the last four meetings between these two sides as well as in three of Madrid’s last four league matches.
However for better odds, a more attractive proposition it to back Madrid to win both halves at 3/4. This bet has paid out in four of Madrid’s last five league games and a leaky Zaragoza defence is unlikely to be able to withstand Madrid’s attacking prowess for an entire half without conceding.
If goals are likely then Cristiano Ronaldo is never far away and the price of 3/100 on him to score at anytime shows just how dangerous the Portuguese is to opposing defences and bookmakers alike.
With 11 goals in his last seven league matches Ronaldo does not appear to be letting his relentless form falter and he can be backed at 13/10 to open the scoring, something he has done on four occasions so far this season. Meanwhile the price of 11/20 for him to score two or more goals in the game is another indication of his talents, with this bet paying out five times already this season.
