Saturday, February 25th
Racing Santander v Sporting Gijon (5.00pm)
Home win: Evens Draw: 9/4 Away win: 14/5
Key stat: Santander have won six of the last seven versus Gijon at the El Sardinero.
Betting tip: Neither are in particularly good form but Santander have enough to edge this relegation battle with home advantage on their side. Santander with under 3.5 goals is a must at 31/20.
Real Betis v Getafe (5.00pm)
Home win: 21/20 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 13/5
Key stat: There have been four draws in the last six games between these two with one win apiece.
Betting tip: Getafe have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five and with Betis winning their last two, sit on the fence with the 23/10 draw.
Malaga v Real Zaragoza (7.00pm)
Home win: 12/25 Draw: 16/5 Away win: 25/4
Key stat: Malaga have only lost at home to Barcelona and Real Madrid since last March.
Betting tip: Zaragoza are doomed for the drop and with Malaga’s home form, a no nonsense 2-0 is well priced at 21/4.
Espanyol v Levante (9.00pm)
Home win: 3/4 Draw: 5/2 Away win: 15/4
Key stat: Espanyol have won six from eight at home, Levante have lost nine from fourteen in the league.
Betting tip: Espanyol have been drawing over half of their games at the interval yet are in fifth place overall. The half time/full time draw/Espanyol win is 18/5.
Sunday, February 26th
Villarreal v Athletic Bilbao (11.00pm)
Home win: 5/4 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 11/5
Key stat: Despite being just outside the bottom three, Villarreal have only lost once at home all season, drawing five.
Betting tip: Villarreal have found form under Jose Molina despite being hammered 4-0 by Mallorca last time out. Bilbao have only won one of their last five away but are good enough to claim a point here. 1-1 is a good option at 5/1.
Rayo Vallecano v Real Madrid (3.00pm)
Home win: 27/4 Draw: 4/1 Away win: 7/20
Key stat: Madrid have won 22 domestic games in a row against teams other than Barcelona.
Betting tip: A long haul to Moscow in midweek for a game played on an artificial deck may have taken some of the zip out of Real’s roll, but they’re a cut above to get the job done with under 2.5 goals at 17/5.
Valencia v Sevilla (5.00pm)
Home win: 3/4 Draw: 13/5 Away win: 7/2
Key stat: There have been no draws in the last ten meetings between these two teams.
Betting tip: Valencia have only won one of their last seven La Liga games, Sevilla one of nine. Sevilla have also only scored four times away from the Pizjuan in nine outings so even with midweek exertions, Valencia should edge this. Valencia with under 3.5 goals is 29/20.
Osasuna v Granada (5.00pm)
Home win: 83/100 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 7/2
Key stat: Osasuna have only lost twice at the Reyno de Navarra all season and beat Barcelona here last time out.
Betting tip: Granada have lost five of six away and Osasuna are strong at home. Osasuna aren’t in top gear but should still take the spoils. Osauna with under 2.5 goals is 27/10.
Real Sociedad v Mallorca (5.00pm)
Home win: 11/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 13/5
Key stat: The home team have won this fixture on ten of the last eleven occasions.
Betting tip: Mallorca have won just twice off the island all season and Sociedad have won four of their last six at the San Sebastien so they can chalk up another win at 11/10.
Atletico Madrid v Barcelona v Real Madrid (8.30pm)
Home win: 21/4 Draw: 7/2 Away win: 9/20
Key stat: In his last ten starts against Atletico, Lionel Messi has scored 17 goals including three hat-tricks.
Betting tip: Diego Simeone has turned Atletico around since the new year but facing Barcelona is a completely different test. Atletico will ask further questions of the champions’ away form but Barca generally hammer the side from the capital, with Messi the chief architect. The little magician is 2/1 to score first here.
