Tuesday night saw Mallorca pull off one of the most astonishing comebacks of recent seasons in the Copa del Rey.
Trailing Real Sociedad 2-0 from the first leg, Joaquin Caparros’ side conceded on 16 minutes meaning, because of the away goals rule, they needed to score four times to make it through to the quarter-finals.
What followed was a truly remarkable sequence of events which saw the Islanders score six goals in 25 minutes to secure the most unlikely of scorelines and progress to the last eight of the competition.
That result will live long in the minds of the few Mallorca fans who turned up at Son Moix to witness it, yet on Saturday night it is back to the pressing matter of trying to avoid relegation and with the arrival of Real Madrid comes arguably the toughest test possible.
Since their bizarre blip back in September which saw them lose at Levante and draw at Racing Santander in the space of three games, the team from the capital have been excellent away from home, notching up six consecutive victories.
Mallorca meantime have really struggled at home where they have won only once all season, scoring a paltry six goals in eight games.
It is a game that Madrid should win comfortably although the price of 31/100 on them doing so is just a little too small to consider investing in.
However, for Madrid to be winning at half time and full time is priced at 4/5 and although it is not the biggest price in the world, it is a chance to make some straightforward returns as Real will be far too strong for Mallorca.
That bet however requires significant investment and therefore may not appeal to everyone.
Far more universally attractive is the price of evens offered on there being over 1.5 goals in the first half, and with the chance to double your money it should be backed at all costs.
Real have scored 1.85 goals in the first half of their away games on average, suggesting Jose Mourinho’s men should make the bet successful all on their own.
Finally, those who fancy an upset can back Mallorca to win at 15/2, with the draw at 17/4 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market.
