After nine months of thrilling twists and turns La Liga is in it’s final throes and the race for title glory has boiled down to one match.
Atletico Madrid will visit Camp Nou for the third time this season, knowing that, if they can withstand Barcelona, a Clasico-cartel smashing Primera Division championship will be theirs.
Quite apart from the legions of Cules and Rojiblancos on tenterhooks, there will interested onlookers the world over who are unwilling to contemplate the way the match might unfold, lest their daydreams put the mockers on the outcome they desire.
Luckily for them there are three bets that have copped in all five matches between Barca and Atletico this season that can be invested in without nailing either set of colours to the proverbial mast.
Under 2.5 goals @ 9/10
They’ve met five times already this term but neither side has managed to register more than once, with two clashes ending goalless.
It’s an amazing improvement by Diego Simeone’s men considering they’d shipped 17 goals in their previous four trips to Catalunya prior to 2013/14.
Atletico Madrid to win (+1) @ 19/20
All bar one of the five slow dances shared by the Argentinian-helmed adversaries so far this season have ended all square, with Los Palanganas’ Champions League second-leg victory the sole deviation.
The visitors’ +1-handicap backers have been rewarded on each occasion.
While backing Barca in the same market would have seen the dough trousered in four of the five clashes, Atleti have been betting underdogs for all five meetings so far, making them the more profitable end of the bargain.
Neither team to win both halves @ 1/5
Hardly a working man’s price this one, but, if the decider in the sides’ season-long struggle for supremacy goes with the formbook, a low scoring contest is in prospect.
As such the likelihood of either antagonist winning both halves looks negligible.
