Real Madrid take on Getafe at the Bernabeu tomorrow in their first home match since a 2-3 loss to Zaragoza on April 30th.
Zaragoza’s shock win consigned Jose Mourinho’s side to a second home league defeat in the space of a month, with Sporting Gijon having triumphed 1-0 in Madrid on April 2nd.
In the process, Gijon brought to an end the Portuguese’s remarkable record of not having lost a home league match since February 23rd 2003 – when he was in charge of Porto – and Getafe are priced at 10/1 to make it an unlikely treble.
However, Los Blancos have bounced back from the disappointment of the Zaragoza defeat with two creditable away performances.
First they secured a 1-1 draw at the home of fierce rivals Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.
Real followed this up with a 6-2 thrashing of Sevilla in their last league outing, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring four times.
Ronaldo has now scored 33 goals from 31 appearances in La Liga this season and the 26-year-old is priced at 2/1 to open the scoring tomorrow.
As such, a successful £10 bet on Ronaldo to score first against Getafe is set to return £30.
For all of their prowess on the road of late – Real also hit Valencia for six on April 23rd – Mourinho will be keen to get back to winning ways at the Bernabeu.
And as surprisingly inconsistent as Real’s home form has been of late, a quick glance at Getafe’s away form suggests it will be business as usual in the Spanish capital.
The Azulones have lost their last five away encounters and have not won on their travels since before Christmas.
With Real boosted by the return from suspension of Ricardo Carvalho and Angel di Maria, relegation-threatened Getafe could prove to be lambs to the slaughter.
With this in mind, a punt on Real to score three or more goals at 7/10 could prove a good bet.
A successful £10 bet on Real Madrid to win 3-0 would return £87.50 with bwin.com’s odds of 31/4. New customers can register here to receive a £25 free bet.
