Backing Barcelona to win at home while scoring plenty of goals has been the standard bet of many a Spanish football punter this season.
The Catalans have been ruthlessly rampant at Camp Nou and apart from an anomalous 0-0 draw against Sevilla, they have plundered 37 goals in their eight home victories.
Seven of those eight wins have featured four or more goals, which leads us to the obvious bet of combining a home win with over 3.5 goals as Real Betis come to town on Sunday.
Odds of 7/10 look a little short at first glance, but given Barca’s home record, plus the number of times they have found the back of the net in their own back yard, it looks to be a bet worthy of some heavy investment.
Yet at odds-on, it may only appeal to those wishing to stake serious money, so it is worth considering some markets with potentially wider appeal.
One such example is the multiple score market. If Barca’s scoring record is anything to go by then the 2/1 offered on a 4-0, 5-0 or 6-0 home win looks to offer reasonable value.
In fact, Barca have won by one of those three scorelines on nine occasions in all competitions this season and will fancy their chances of repeating it again at home to the Andalusians.
There are, of course, two teams in the match and it would wrong – not to mention a little disrespectful – to write an entire preview without mentioning Betis at all.
While Barca are the understandable 1/20 favourites in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, Pepe Mel’s men are rated as mammoth 33/1 shots, with the draw available at an equally huge 21/2.
The team from Seville are on a roll, having won their last three matches, including impressive victories against Valencia and Atletico Madrid.
In Roque Santa Cruz they posses a striker of genuine quality, as the Paraguayan showed with his expertly-taken goal against Sporting Gijon last week.
Yet there is very little to suggest that they will get anything out of this match against Barcelona.
The most tempting bet with regard to Betis would be to take the 27/4 on them scoring the last goal of the match.
It is not beyond the realms of possibility that they grab a late consolation goal when the game is well and truly won for Barca. A long-shot, no doubt, but one which could pay off handsomely.
