A brace from Karim Benzema and an Angel Di Maria strike helped Real Madrid to a 3-1 success over LA Galaxay in the International Champions Cup quarter-finals and more goals look to be on the agenda when Los Merengues take on Everton in the last four on Sunday morning.
Cristiano Ronaldo might have been conspicuous by his absence from the scoresheet since registering a brace in his side’s opening warm-up match against Bournemouth but the Spanish giants have still been scoring plenty of goals.
Los Merengues have scored 12 goals in their pre-season fixtures and those four games have featured 15 goals in total.
Given Everton’s friendlies are seeing over three goals a game on average, it’s no surprise to see over 2.5 goals is as short as 1.36, with unders at 2.90.
The over 2.5 goals price is the same as the odds about a Real Madrid win, with the draw at 4.50 and an Everton success at 6.50.
But while Los Merengues are worthy favourites, the over 2.5 goals punt looks a safer shout than the Real Madrid win given the fact that both teams are still far from their best as they continue their preparations for the new campaign.
It’s also worth noting that Everton beat a Juventus side featuring Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente on penalties to reach the semi-finals, suggesting Carlo Ancelotti’s men are set to be given a stern examination by the Toffees.
So with the result perhaps not as nailed on as the odds suggest, backing the game to see at least three goals seems to be the way to go.
