After a sluggish start to the season, Sven Goran-Eriksson’s expensively-assembled Leicester side have hit their stride and are unbeaten in five games.
During that run they beat former league leaders Brighton and Southampton and will again be favourites when they host a Derby side who went joint-top in midweek.
The Foxes are 31/50 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with Derby at 9/2 and the draw priced at 5/2.
Not only can Sven pick from a squad featuring former England players like Darius Vassell and David Nugent, alongside experienced internationals like Yuki Abe and Gelson Fernandes, but Leicester also have an excellent record in this fixture.
They have never lost to Derby since moving to their new stadium (now named after sponsors King Power) and have won their last two encounters 2-0.
Another 2-0 triumph for Leicester is priced 15/2 and new customers using the £25 free bet available when signing up to a bwin account would win £212.50 if that result came true.
Having not lost in the last ten games in which they have led at half-time, odds of 31/20 for a Leicester/Leicester outcome in the halftime/fulltime market are also worth considering.
Derby will draw confidence from their form so far this season, in particular the wins against Birmingham and Nottingham Forest, which showed they could beat the Championship’s ‘big teams’.
Nearly 75 per cent of Derby’s last 15 games have featured three or more goals and in five-goal top scorer Steve Davies they will pose a clear goal threat against Leicester’s normally tight defence.
Given Derby’s attacking form, odds of 37/20 for over 3.5 goals are tempting but as Leicester have kept four straight clean sheets, betting on a win for the home side in a game with over 2.5 goals at 3/2 looks the best option.
