West Ham look increasingly confident of securing promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking, with co-owner David Sullivan already talking about the club’s apparently inevitable return to the top flight.
In an interview with Sky Sports News, Sullivan said he would be open to the prospect of loaning star midfielder Scott Parker to Chelsea until next summer as this would pave the way for his return once the Iron are back in the big time.
The Blues have been linked with a move for their former player following the injury sustained by Michael Essien, who is expected to be out of action for around six months.
According to Sullivan, Chelsea would be getting a good deal as they would be securing a player at the peak of his powers.
This would help to boost the chances of Andre Villas-Boas’ side securing the Premier League title, while Sullivan appears to think that West Ham would still have enough in their locker to win promotion
The Hammers are favourites for the Championship title with odds of 4/1, although they are only just ahead of Leicester in bwin’s football betting market.
A successful £25 free bet on West Ham to win the title, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £125.
“We would love a deal where we loan him out for the season for a substantial fee and then when we get promotion he comes back to us. That would appeal to us because we love Scott,” Sullivan told the news provider.
“We would obviously want a loan fee because he has substantial value and has three or four years left of his career. They would probably be getting the best of those three of four years. He is at the absolute peak of his game at the moment and is playing out of his skin.”
