Andy Reid believes it is only a matter of time before he is playing in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.
The cultured left-footer re-signed for the club he first played for as professional on July 1st.
A youth player when Forest were last in the top flight, Reid played in the Championship throughout his first spell at the club.
Despite having spent most of his career since then playing in the Premier League, Reid does not consider a move back to the City Ground to be a step backwards.
This is because he is convinced that Forest, under the stewardship of the recently-appointed Steve McClaren, will soon be back in the big time.
“I haven’t come here to stay in the Championship for a couple of years – I’ve come here to help get this club in the Premier League which is where it belongs,” he commented.
Forest are 12/1 joint-fourth favourites alongside Middlesbrough and Reading to top the Championship table at the end of the season.
A successful £25 free bet on Forest to finish first, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £325.
According to Reid, the McClaren factor will be crucial in any future Forest success.
“In football you can’t just make decisions based on sentiment so I met with the manager and had a good chat with him,” he explained.
“As soon as I walked out of his office I knew that I wanted to play for him.
“I can see where the club is going and where he wants to take it and it’s something I really want to be part of.”
Forest kick off their Championship title campaign on Saturday, 6th August with a home game against Barnsley.
Nottm Forest v Barnsley odds make the home side favourites to take all three points at 31/50.
