Derby County and Hull City return to action following the international break perched just a point apiece outside of the Championship play-off melee.
A win for either would more than likely elevate them into the top six but what may swing this one is that Hull will go into the game shorn of the manager who has overseen their recent surge up the table.
On Tuesday night it was confirmed Nigel Pearson has departed the KC Stadium to take the reins at Leicester City, and what no form guide can tell you is how his former charges will respond to the loss.
Caretaker boss Nick Barmby will lead the side to Pride Park hoping to maintain some of the roar which has seen the Tigers pushing towards the summit.
Prior to Pearson absconding, Hull were arguably the form side in the division. Bar losing to promotion-chasing West Ham last time out they had won seven of their last ten games, drawing the other three, so the 29/20 odds for them to win in bwin’s 3Way football betting market seems an excellent price.
On the contrary, Derby have nosedived after a decent start to the campaign. The Rams have won only one of their last eight Championship ties, losing four and drawing three. At present they are 7/4 for the win, which might not be a bad shout given the change in leadership the visitors have to contend with.
Despite their rise, Hull don’t score in particularly high numbers. They’ve only registered 14 times in 15 league games, which puts them among the lowest scorers in the division. However, they’re also pretty miserly at the back, letting in just 15 over the same period, so under 2.5 goals in the game at 3/4 looks a banker.
So while Hull games might not be the preferred destination for adrenaline junkies, they are hard to beat and given the circumstances, the draw at 11/5 could be the go-to bet of the weekend.
