Sunday’s televised Championship match sees a meeting between two struggling teams galvanised by a recent run of impressive results.
Not too long ago, both Millwall and Bristol City found themselves in the relegation zone, each having won just once from their opening ten fixtures.
It took four more defeats and a change in the dugout for Bristol City to notch only their second win of the season and while they still find themselves below the dotted line, the arrival of Derek McInnes from St. Johnstone has seen a return of seven points from four games, more than doubling their total for the entire season.
Millwall’s form of late has been even more impressive. Their narrow defeat last time out at Blackpool followed a five-game unbeaten run, including a Darius Henderson-inspired 3-0 victory at big-spending Leicester City.
The ex-Sheffield United and Watford striker is currently the joint second top scorer in the division, netting eight times since signing in the summer.
It was that shock result in the East Midlands that saw Millwall climb out of the relegation zone, but it is their home form that provides the real surprise. Despite their lowly position, they have lost only one match at The Den this season, and only Birmingham City have conceded fewer goals on their own patch.
You can get odds of 5/4 if you fancy Millwall’s defence to keep a clean sheet. However, with two high-scoring wins in their last two home games, a 3-0 victory looks tempting at 12/1. Punters who use their free £25 bet will see a return of £325 if they correctly follow that tip.
