The Championship season has only just begun, but already Kenny Jackett’s side are building momentum and that could spell bad news for the boys from the City Ground.
The Lions won all five of their pre-season friendlies, keeping four clean sheets, before coming within minutes of an impressive opening day win at Reading last week.
This was followed by a 1-0 victory away to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday in the Carling Cup, and with odds of 7/5 to win on Saturday, their first home game of the season could make for some happy bwin punters.
French forward Dany N’Guessan, on loan from Leicester City, was the hero at Home Park and could make his league debut for Millwall on Saturday.
Forest began the season with a drab 0-0 affair at home to Barnsley, and followed that up with an anything but drab 3-3 draw in their midweek Nottingham derby against Notts County, ultimately winning 4-3 on penalties.
The eagle-eyed of you will have noticed three out of the four matches these two promotion hopefuls have played so far this season have ended in draws, so the 11/5 on the stalemate also looks tempting, especially as three of the last five meetings between the sides have ended all square.
Forest also had a relatively successful pre-season campaign, and with Matt Derbyshire brought in to add depth to the attack alongside Marcus Tudgay, David McGoldrick and Joe Garner, a flutter at 8/5 on an away win could bear fruit.
McClaren revealed just before the start of the season that he was frustrated with the lack of players he was able to bring in during the summer, and would have been even more anxious after last week’s limp performance against the Tykes.
However, the former Middlesbrough, Wolfsburg and England manager was more positive after Tuesday’s shootout win over County, showing immense pride in his new team’s never-say-die attitude.
He will be hoping for more of the same at the Den, and with Jackett’s charges full of confidence, it seems like the Reds will need every ounce of fight they have to come away from wast London with anything.
