Brighton to beat Ipswich @ 13/20
Brighton might have suffered a blip when they lost at home to Birmingham City on Saturday, but they can bet back on track at the Amex with victory over Ipswich Town.
Albion remain top of the Championship despite that 1-0 reverse to Blues and Gus Poyet’s team look good for a tilt at promotion to the Premier League. The Seagulls have won five and drawn one of their eight games, while their record of just five goals conceded is the best in the division and they have the beating of Ipswich.
The Tractor Boys haven’t won since the first week of the season and are currently in the bottom three, leaving Paul Jewell fighting for his job. Town have lost three of their last four away games in all competitions and with just two goals on the road this year will find it difficult to get any change out of a fine Brighton outfit.
Bristol City to beat Millwall @ 5/4
Millwall look set for another season of struggle and they could be on the end of a defeat when they travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City.
The Lions are perilously close to the relegation zone, level on points with third-bottom Sheffield Wednesday, and their porous defence is the primary reason for this. Kenny Jackett’s men have conceded 17 goals in eight matches, as many as anyone in the division, and they should be fearful of a trip to free-scoring Bristol City.
Despite being in 15th position, the Robins are the Championship’s top scorers with 17 goals, 13 of which have come at home. A tough fixture list has brought two home wins (against Cardiff and Crystal Palace) and City should be confident of seeing off their south London rivals.
Cardiff City to beat Birmingham @ 4/5
New Blues boss Lee Clark got a much-needed win away from home at Brighton on Saturday but the Birmingham revival could be stopped in its tracks at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Clark has been under pressure at St Andrews after an indifferent start to the season and while the three points won at the Amex will be welcome, Birmingham were a bit fortunate and it is hard to see them getting anything at high-flying Cardiff.
The Bluebirds were very impressive in beating Blackpool 3-0 on Saturday, a result which saw them rise to second in the table, level on points with Brighton. Malky Mackay’s side are playing well and their home record – played four, won four – is seriously impressive given the quality of the opponents they have faced (Huddersfield, Wolves, Leeds, Blackpool) and they can make it five in a row by beating Birmingham.
