Another winning weekend for us last time out bwinners and as the old saying goes, ‘two out of three isn’t bad!’ If it was not for Ipswich Town failing to hold onto a lead, we would be celebrating a hat-trick of successes now and this week I’m trusting Birmingham City to beat Barnsley, Leeds United to see off Nottingham Forest and Derby County to get the better of Burnley.
Having looked at the games with my beady eye, I must admit it appears trickier than previous weeks to land a winning treble which if new customers back using their free £20 bet they get when they sign up to bwin, would collect £166 if the bet proves successful.
However, I have just about managed to cipher through the tough fixture list and come up with a bet that will hopefully serve us well.
Birmingham to beat Barnsley @ 31/50
Lee Clark seems to be slowly making his mark at St Andrews, and his Birmingham side are starting to gather pace. Last weekend’s credible draw at Nottingham Forest will feel like a loss having been 2-0 up with 15 minutes to play, and they followed that result up with a great 2-1 midweek success at home to Bolton. That was a superb result considering Bolton came down from the Premiership last season, and after defeating the Trotters on home soil a fixture against Barnsley in front of the TV cameras will certainly be one the Blues will be relishing. Two home wins on the spin have moved Lee Clark’s side up the table and they will be desperate to keep climbing the league when the Tykes visit on Saturday evening, and given their current form I cannot see an upset here.
Leeds to beat Nottingham Forest @ 29/20
Coming off the back of two defeats it may seem strange to be backing Leeds to record a win, however I am putting my trust in Neil Warnock giving his Leeds players a stern talking to before they take on Forest on Saturday. As a result, I expect United to come back with a bang and crush Sean O’ Driscoll’s side when the two teams meet at Elland Road. Prior to their mini blip, Leeds had picked up seven points from a possible nine, and only the epic 3-3 draw with Blackburn prevented Warnock’s whites from maximum points from the three fixtures. Forest are without a win on the road, but also remain undefeated with three successive draws. Fingers crossed that changes at the weekend and Leeds can secure a victory for our treble.
Derby to beat Burnley @ 11/10
Despite not having a spectacular start to the campaign, Derby have begun steadily enough. Very few would have had money on Derby to make a push for promotion, and I am not forecasting that happening, but I do believe they can grab three points at the weekend. Burnley are particularly hit and miss and considering Nigel Clough’s men have won back to back home games, the Rams should see off Eddie Howe’s side. With the Clarets conceding seven goals on their travels thus far (from three matches) and Derby notching eight in their last two home fixtures, goals could be on the menu. Pride Park has been kind to the home side in recent weeks, and I predict the good form shown by Clough’s boys will continue this weekend.
