The relentless Championship is back in action for a two-night fixture list and Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday make up a tasty looking home banker treble against respective visitors Barnsley, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town.
The odds on those three in-form sides to emerge triumphant are 19/5, meaning that if punters register with bwin today and use their free £20 bet on the treble, they will receive £96 in returns. Here’s why it is a good idea…
Blackburn Rovers to beat Barnsley @ 21/50
Rovers have adapted to life in the second tier very well after relegation last term and can continue their fine form with a victory over inconsistent Barnsley at Ewood Park.
Steve Kean’s side top the Championship table after a dramatic 5-3 win at Bristol City on Saturday, and will be confident of seeing off the poor travellers from Yorkshire. The Tykes have lost three of their four away fixtures in league and cup this term, and have been poor on the road for some time.
Keith Hill’s men haven’t won an away match within 90 minutes since 14th January, a run of 15 games, and don’t look capable of stopping the rot at Blackburn. Rovers have won both their home matches this season against decent opposition in the form of Hull and Leicester and can be trusted to to make it three wins from three.
Blackpool to beat Middlesbrough @ 39/50
Blackpool sit just behind Blackburn in second position in the Championship and can strengthen their promotion push by collecting three points when Middlesbrough visit Bloomfield Road.
The Seasiders have been impressive at home since relegation from the Premier League in 2011: only promoted Reading and Southampton won more home games than the Tangerines last season, and Ian Holloway’s side have lost just one home fixture (to West Ham United) in their last 19 home assignments.
‘Pool have won two from two this term by an aggregate of 8-1 and will fancy their chances of beating inconsistent Boro. Tony Mowbray’s side have lost both their games on the road this season and defeats to Millwall and Barnsley, who both look set to be in the relegation dogfight, don’t suggest they can contain a side who scored 42 home goals last campaign.
Sheffield Wednesday to beat Huddersfield Town @ 9/10
Despite a couple of disappointing away days, Sheffield Wednesday remain on an incredible run of form at Hillsborough and that can continue when Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield visit on Wednesday evening.
The Owls boasted the best home record in League One last term – winning 17 matches and losing just twice – as they won promotion to the Championship under Dave Jones and this season has continued in exactly the same fashion.
Wednesday have a 100% record at Hillsborough this year, beating Millwall and Birmingham City in the league and top flight Fulham in the Capital One Cup, and could have too much for Huddersfield.
Town were also in League One last season, but have been dodgy on the road of late. A play-off victory at MK Dons in May is the Terriers’ solitary victory in seven trips, and they have won just three of the last 14 on the road, keeping only one clean sheet.
